I've used both...and the brest friend is so much better. It's ugly and I hate the name, but it really is the best nursing pillow I have several friends who have tried both and they feel the same way.
I took the Boppy with me to the hospital. I ended up having a C Section. The Boppy SUCKED for breastfeeding. DS kept rolling towards me...it didn't offer the support that he needed. My MIL went to the boutique in the hospital and bought me a My Brest Friend. Best investment EVER for bf'ing. It was so much more support since it's surface is flatter and more stiff. I will be using it again for bf'ing DD. Having said all of that, I still used the Boppy for propping DS up before he could sit up completely unassisted. It has its uses, but for us, bf'ing wasn't one of them.

I have both and keep the boppy in the living room and th MBF in our room. BUT, I rarely use either because she only nurses for about 7 minutes so it's not usually worth it to pull them out.
I lived by the My Breast Friend. I had a Boppy in the beginning but immediately fell in love when I tried a MBF at the lactation consultant's office. I used that thing for almost 20 months! It was one of the best pieces of baby equipment I had.
I didn't have a c/s, but I lived and died by my boppy with both girls until they were older. I can't tell you how often I fell asleep with them BF just to have them roll off into that pillow. Plus I was so exhausted anyway that holding them for so long (they would nurse for 30-45 minutes most of their feedings at first) just hurt my arm.
I have a boppy and and bumpil that my mom got for me to use while I was pregnant. I like the bumpil much better than the boppy for nursing. Plus, the bumpil is good to open up and let DD lay in it.
I used the boppy and liked it but havent tried anything else. I did have to put a pillow under it to prop it up high enough to bf. DS still gets a ton of use out of it though
I use the boppy and like it, but not having used anything else I can't say if it's the most supportive. I will say that I also use regular throw pillows when I'm on the couch and could also get the same support from bed pillows. I do like the way boppy wraps around me and how thick it is. It doesn't seem like it would pack down soon like some pillows would.
Also, I did have a c-section but my recovery seems to have gone very, very well based on other experiences I've heard. My incision has healed quickly and soreness has been minimal.
I have both. I hated the Boppy for nursing. It didn't fit between the armrests on our glider (which is where I did most of my nursing in the early months), it was rounded on top so DD tended to slide off, and it didn't attach all the way around so it tended to shift and move.
I loved the MBF! I brought it to the hospital but forgot I had it for the first day or so, and made do with normal pillows. When I remembered it, I had DH go down to the car and get it, and breastfeeding instantly got way easier! I used it at pretty much every nursing session until DD was around 5 months old. I even had an inflatable version for traveling. I could use it comfortably in the glider, it was flat on top so DD didn't slide around, and it attached firmly around me so it didn't shift like the Boppy did.
I did like the Boppy better for two things:
1. Propping DD up when she was learning how to sit up. 2. Nursing DD while pumping the other side.
Mommy to DD1 (June 2007), DS (January 2010), DD2 (July 2012), and The Next One (EDD 3/31/2015)
I didn't read the other responses, but I have a My Brest Friend that was the BEST THING EVER! Seriously. I've recommended it to 2 other new moms who had used Boppy's before and they can't believe how much better it is. I know I sound like I work for them but I promise I don't.
I had a boppy, but it didn't work well for BFing, for me at least.
I found a couple of pillows (bed pillows) worked better for me. I was able to fold them if they weren't high enough...they were a little bit easier to maneuver.
Re: Poll: Nursing pillows
I used the boppy but think that there may be others out there that are better.
Thus far I've found them useless except to prop the baby up for pictures.
My LC even went on a tangent about how poorly she feels the boppy is designed.

Ditto on everything.

MBF is definitely more supportive!
I used the Boppy and I did have a C-section. But it's the only thing I ever tried, so I have nothing to compare it to.
At the end, the Boppy was getting a little flat (from CONSTANT use, so I'm not complaining). If I have another DC, I'll be buying a new Boppy.

Yes!
I think the Brest Friend looks better.
