Don't Know What's Wrong With DS :(

For the past 36 hours, DS almost 4 months old) has been acting really weird. It started with him screaming in his carseat (I was driving, so couldn't help him) for all 30 in. of a 30 min. drive yesterday afternoon. Then when we got home we napped together for an hour and a half. He woke up upset and I fed him(BF'd) and he fell asleep at the breast and slept another 30 min. or so. Last night, we put him to bed at 7:00 and he slept until 10:30...and it was all downhill from there! He woke up every hour or less for the rest of the night/morning! It was pure hell. Some of the times we fed him, some we just comforted him and tried to get him back down. Today, he wasn't all that interested in eating and napping was terrible (2 30 min. naps). He wasn't super fussy, just not really himself. He has also been spitting up a large amount after feedings (did this 4 or 5 times) and he has never been a spitter. We called the pedi advice line and they seem to think it's a stomach bug of some sort and if he isn't better by tomorrow morning, we are supposed to bring him to the clinic. He is peeing still, so he isn't dehydrated. It's just really weird for him. Has anyone experienced this? He has been a pretty good sleeper (one 4-6 hour stretch then two 2-3 hour stretches) and always a good eater.

  • Could he be teething? When DS started cutting his teeth his appetite and sleep got totally messed up, and he was ridiculously cranky.

  • He has been showing signs of teething for about a month now. But what about the spit up? Oh, and his stomach has been soooo loud. His gums aren't really red (though we see the teeth lined up in the front of his gums)

  • When I read this I tend to think that maybe you ate something that upset his tummy... I had some trouble similar to this when I had a lot of dairy one day and my girl was spitting up like crazy and also very fussy.... could be also be grouchy because it is compounded with the teething... not too sure. Did you eat anything new or different than usual? HTH!
