How do you get anything done?

I know they say that the house can wait but it drives me nuts!!  Especially when I'm making my own messes and tripping over crap/leaving things out when trying to get our LO fed, to sleep or not cry.  DH makes dinner but isn't very good about keeping house unless I make the list for him. If I can't even get a break, I can't make a damn list either.

Re: How do you get anything done?

  • i put DD in the wrap and do light chores.  i can usually fold the laundry,d o the dishes with her fast asleep in the wrap.

  • I got nothing done when DS was really little.  My house was a mess, I was often unshowered, my dogs didn't get out nearly enough, it was completely crazy.  It's much better and calmer and easier now!  But the house is still usually messy although it's clean right now (and SO nice to have a clean house.  We cleaned last weekend and had cleaning lady come on Thursday - my house hasn't been this clean in I don't know how long!)
    Wheee!

  • i feel the same way.  i want to give dh the baby when he gets home but that is hwen he is the fussiest and only wants me.  I feel like the house is a disaster at all times.  But i try to clean if he sleeps for 1/ 2 hour and I can put him down.  I'm dreading when I go back to work.  I can't imagine how bad the house is going to look when i have even less time.
  • I run around like a crazy person when ds naps?
  • Well I hope you aren't expecting some immaculate cleaning to be done. I am so OCD about having everything clean but I just had to get over it.  I will straighten up, do dishes, wipe counters, vaccuum while DS is napping and it makes the house tolerable.  Not to my usual liking but it's tolerable. DH usually does the laundry on the weekends and I am slowly trying to get into cooking again with easy meals like tuna helper or crockpot recipes.

Same- thank goodness for the Rain Forest Swing. DS sleeps in it for 3-4 hours at a time.

  • i dont....i shower when dh gets home fro work
  • It's extremely hard to get things done.  I usually have DS in swing or in my baby Bjorn sling ( he loves both)
  • When she falls asleep, I run around the house like a madwoman. lol. On days where we have to run out, I don't get much done. I will be ready for her to go down for bed at 8 or 9 so that I can get some stuff done then as well. It is definitely tough! My house doesn't really get "cleaned" just picked up.

In the last week or so I have been trying to focus on doing one big thing a day. Like clean a bathroom. Or pick-up and clean our bedroom. I also try to keep in mind that if doesn't get done, no big deal.

  • Before I went back to work, when DH would get home I would hand the baby off and do the things I wanted to get done.  Now that I am working again, things get done much slower.  It usually involves K playing in her bouncer or me cleaning after she falls asleep at night.
