Hubby is getting a work shower?

Apparently, I am not up to speed, but I thought it was a little strange that my husband is getting a work shower.  I told him I thought it was a little strange and he said "Welcome to the new millenium.  Dad's pregnant, too!"

He works in a male dominated field.  It is being thrown by the women in the office but the majority of people he works with are men (he's an oil and gas attorney).  It's at lunch one day at work.

Am I the only one that finds this strange?  I can't imagine a group of men wanting to go to a shower.  I'm guessing we'll get alot of nerf footballs and maybe a Barbie doll or two?

  • I don't think it's strange. It's to celebrate the baby, so why not? We had one for my (male) boss at my old job and my DH is getting one next week (he doesn't know it yet though). I think it's nice. Since it's a work thing I would bet they all go in on a GC or one gift though...

  • I thoght it was pretty funny and was making fun of my DH.  But his work actually threw a really nice shower for him. And they got us our convertible car seat, 4 outfits and a gift card, I was shocked!!!!!

They made him sit down and open the presents in front of everyone and cut the cake, hahaha!

  • When DH worked at his old job they had him a 'bridal' shower! It was the women in the office who had it but they all pitched in for a group gift and random people bought there own gifts. They even made him a paper plate hat with bows!

When I worked at a bank a few years back they had the guy in the mail room a baby shower.

  • My husband works in a male dominated field (in his department anyway) and I was VERY surprised when he came home (right before our first son arrived) with a little onsie and a gift card for BRU.  We are very tight with the group though and I'm sure that one of the wives had something to do with the gift.  ;)  Either way, I thought it was really sweet!
  • My husband's female boss and male co-worker threw him a surprise baby shower last week and invited me. I don't think it is weird at all. It is just as much his baby as mine. His work also threw him a wedding shower when we got married.
  • I work at a male-dominated company. We throw showers for every baby that's coming, whether the mom or the dad works with us. They also get wedding showers. Even the boys.

You might be surprised how interested the other men are.

We don't usually have games or anything, just food, cake, and presents, but everyone always enjoys it.
  • my husband works with 6 guys and 2 girls in a government audits branch and his co-workers threw him a "man shower" .... although they just went out to Maggiano's for a long lunch, invited me and the 2 girls asked me a ton of questions, and they all pitched in and paid for lunch and got us the pack and play. low key but they wanted to do something nice for DH. ?
  • I'm throwing DH a suprise "man shower". Its basically his friends coming over to drink beer and eat a ton of food. I figure he'll probably get "survival" stuff for when baby is born or a bunch of silly stuff because thats just how his friends are. I think it makes the dad's feel more like they're getting to be part of the pre-baby action.
