My beautiful 5 week old DS is a huge fusspants. Seems like he's either sleeping, eating, fussing, or screaming.
We only get very small periods of time where he's both awake and content. I wouldn't go so far as to call it colic because he usually can be consoled (not always, which is so frustrating) by being held, walked, bounced- but it usually requires constant motion, which is tough to maintain. Sometimes he seems content for 5 seconds, and then bursts into a scream for no apparent reason.
The days are so long and exhausting. Anyone else with a fussy baby? It gets so tiring and I also feel so awful for him when he just seems so unhappy. ![]()
Re: DS, please stop fussing and crying!
Hang in there. Most babies fussiest time is in the evenings. It also gets drastically better when they are 6 weeks old.?
How long has he been awake for? Are you getting him down between 1-2 hours of wakefulness? I know that a 5 weeks, anything goes, but if he is fussy in the evenings, try bumping up his bedtime.?
I'm sorry. I don't have a abnormally over fussy baby. But, I just wanted to say that I heard colic spikes around 6 weeks, so you may be in the worst now heading toward the light! You sound like a great mom.
Aww, thanks so much for the support. I am crossing my fingers that 6 weeks brings relief!
He usually is only awake for 1-2 hours before eating and then sleeping again, but it's hard to establish a bedtime. We've tried putting him to bed earlier in the evening after a good feeding when he's really sleepy. As soon as he hits the bassinet, he's wide awake, struggling against the swaddler (although flails if he's not swaddled) and screaming.
My poor guy.
There have been small improvements since a few weeks ago, it's just hard to remember that sometimes when he just fusses and fusses. It's nice to have support here, though!
I know exactly what you mean.
Strangely, my DS is also named Benjamin.
