Another Poll: Pacifiers- yes or no?

And if yes, what kind?

We have not been using them, but just did recently to calm DD down...the only one we have is the soothie we were given in the hospital.

Re: Another Poll: Pacifiers- yes or no?

  • we used soothies from day 2--no problems here. We switched to orthodontic ones at around 4 wks--they stay in his mouth better. We use born free ones now.

  • My DD doesn't really like them, but is she does take one it's either the Nuk or Avent ones.

  • We introduced it at 2 days in the hospital.  It was a gum drop kind-it's what the hospital had.  We're now using a Nuk brand one.

  • We used soothie from day 4 for about a week (we tried not to, but as a bfing mom, I was becoming a human pacifier). They were the only one my lo would take.  They were loud (which I hated-b/c I couldn't sleep with him sucking) and kept falling out of his mouth.  We use the avent ones now-much quieter and stay in his mouth.  Just took him while to get used to those.

  • DS will really only take Avent.  They stay in the best.  He LOVES his binky!!!
  • YES!  We use Nuks.
  • The hospital gave DD a soothie, and we had bought some orthodontic ones for public.  She now also uses some that glow in the dark which are great for bed time when it's popped out.  I think those are her favorite.

  • We use Nuk, and have since around week 4.  Doesn't cause any issue with nipple confusion, etc.  We got the orthodontic style and she hated until recently  but still prefers the Nuks.
  • The hospital gave us soothies on Day 2 and we only used them. DD switched to her thumb around 3 months and abandoned the paci all together. Before I was a mom, I was so "anti- paci", but then once DD was born and just wanted to SUCK on everything, I quickly changed my tune.
