1st Trimester

1st appt, and a big surprise...

No, not twins, but as it turns out I am 14 weeks, not 10 like I thought!  I went for my very first appt today, crossing fingers that we would hear the heartbeat on the doppler.  Well we did, and the doctor asked me if I was sure about my last period, and I said I was completely positive it started Jan. 9, and it was the only period I had since my son was born back in Dec. 07.  He said because it was the only period I had to go by, and couldn't prove regular cycles, that he wanted an ultrasound.  The tech started to do a vaginal u/s on me, and immediately told me I wasn't 10 weeks and was actually too far along to do the vaginal.  So she brought out the regular u/s and we saw the baby!  So far everything looks good, it was too early to see the sex and they also couldn't get all the measurements, so we'll still get another u/s at 20 weeks.  But now I'm due Sept. 20!!!

I can't believe it, the entire time I was getting the u/s I just kept repeating that this was not possible.  On Jan. 9 I started my period, I bled for 3 days and used tampons and everything, it was exactly like how my periods always were.  And the entire time I was pregnant.  I still can't figure out how this happened!?!?!?

It does explain why I have been able to feel my uterus above my pubic bone for a couple weeks now...it was making me nervous that it was twins!
