Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Daycare moms...

DS started daycare Wednesday since I went back to work so... the past 2 nights, I've cried myself to sleep pretty much, cried on the way to work, had to choke back tears throughout the day, and now I think DS doesnt know who I am.

Just wondering if I'm acting like a normal first time daycare mom or if I'm a bit extreme.  :(

Re: Daycare moms...

  • Yes you are acting normal. You will soon see the wonderful benefits of daycare and appreciate going to work when DS becomes a toddler. Right now he is cute and cuddly. When he becomes challenging you will love the break! I also love everything she is learning, the kid can say her ABCs and count to 18 and has an over 400 word vocab (average is 20-30 for this age) daycare is awesome.

  • I'm sure I will be the same way in a couple of weeks.  I already cry now when I just think about it.
  • I'm ready to quit and it's only been 3 days!! When I pick him up in the afternoons, I feel like I've missed out on so much and ugh, it just makes me sad. I've begged and begged DH to let me just stay home but he won't budge. uugghhhhh... I don't know how I'm going to do this. I know I"m not the first and won't be the last mom to send their baby to daycare but I'm heartbroken!

Thanks. What advantage is daycare for a 4 month old? I always knew I'd have to go back to work but wow, didn't know it'd be this hard.

  • ditto JARbaby! I was the same way when my DD went to daycare at 3 months old. She is now 3 1/2 years old and I wouldn't have it any other way. She has learned so much over the years that she never would have learned if she were home all day with me. Not to mention, the much needed break is right! I think we both appreciate our time together even more. Time will pass and you will start to feel better. I promise!! When DS goes, it will still be hard and I will still cry all day at work, but I know now from experience, it will be OK!

    GL!
