No videotaping. I can't imagine ever wanting to go back and watch it. DH will take pictures, but not of the actual birth. Again, can't imagine where I would put these. Doesn't seem like it would be appropriate in a baby book...
"You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast..."
DH thinks he's taping it....I think NOT! I told him pictures and video before and after...not during! No one needs to see a stretched out va-jay-jay...LOL

No thanks. I'm sure it won't be my finest photogenic moment. A few still shots after I've cleaned up a little will be sufficient. I know some docs don't allow video tapes of the actual delivery.
Bwahahahaha!!! No. Only if I intended to later submit it to a horror film fest. It's a joyous experience but by no means so glamorous that I want to see it over and over again. I'd rather just enjoy the results...
i know theres a girl here in 2nd tri that has mentioned having a professional photographer at her delivery but i cant remember who it was.
i will not be video taping and probably wont be taking pictures either. DH wants to catch the baby and i dont want anyone but him in the room so i doubt we will have pictures from the delivery.
a friend of mine had her mom and dad and her boyfriend all in the room when she was giving birth. she has pictures of everything. when people would go see them in the hospital her bf would show everyone the pictures of the placenta...he is very mature...
i wish...hospital won't allow it. i will say that i'm obsessed with "a baby story" on tlc and really wanted to capture that special moment that always makes me cry when the baby is born and you see the expressions of the parents...especially the father. but unfortunately we'll be limited on what we can tape.
and i have never heard of pro photogs for birth...who does that?
No, we haven't taped any of them. With dd we had a friend and he husband there. He husband started taping once dd was placed on my stomach. He was up by my shoulders so it is completely G rated. My friend actually caught dd but very shortly after she started snapping pictures. She loves photgraphy and has an awesome camera so we got some great shots.
With ds dh was the only one in the room. We didn't get nearly as many pictures but dh did take some and I took a few of him and ds. Dh taped ds's first bath and I took a few still photos.
This time we hope to have a different friend with us. I would love for her to be on camera duty (I did the same for her when he dd was born) so dh doesn't have to worry about it. We will probably just take viseo of the baby's first bath or something like we did with ds. I would rather dh be able to be in the moment with me, not worrying about pictures and stuff. This was our plan with ds too though and he came to quickly for anyone else to get to the hospital (heck, I barely made it!) so we shall see what happens.
The hospital where I deliever does not allow video or photo during the actual birth (pushing) - which was just fine by me.
We have about 500 photos with each of the boys of us arriving, me in labor, and after the baby was born (starting from when they were a few minutes old). I would be pissed if DH was busy taking photos while I was pushing the baby out, his job is to hold the leg, kiss my forehead, and cry at the miracle he is witnessing
We're having a friend who's a professional photographer take pictures. No crotch shots or anything like that, but she'll do reaction shots, the cord cutting, etc.
DH wants to video tape the birth, but I told him no way. Photos have a way of idealizing the situation. Video's pretty in your face, this is how it was. I'm going natural and we want to have at least one more. I don't think I want to remember exactly how it was, lol.
They actually do not allow you to video tape the birth at our hospital. They do not want the father getting distracted thinking he is the next Steven Spielberg and not helping the mother with the delivery. So we will not be taping it, not that I wanted to anyway!
I'll bring my camcorder and if DH or my doula film some of it that would be great but if they don't I wont be to upset. I had a c-section with DS and we filmed that. Looking back I'm glad we did but I didn't think it was that important at the time.

My hospital doesn't allow videotaping of the actual delivery (pushing). My Dh was too busy holding up my leg and cheering me on to push to take picts. He did take a few picts immediately after my DD was born. I don't think professional picts are necessary at all.
We strongly considered professional birth photography, but our budget just doesn't allow it, and I am really bummed about it! We will be bringing our DSLR for DH to take shots up until pushing, and my mom will come in as soon as the baby is born and take shots of the rest of the adventure.?
We actually weren't allowed to use video cameras during the delivery anyways when my son was born. We took pictures after he was born though--which is good enough. I'll never forget that experience anyways, and I wouldn't play it for others to see. It's just between me and DH.

I know I'm a grown woman who will, God willing, be giving birth soon, but I cannot imagine anything more awkward than having my dad possibly see my vagina.
I might. But I really only want me and H in the room and I don't want him to be distracted with a camera so I'm not 100% sure. I definitely don't want any crotch shots. Maybe of the head crowning but that's it.
Dear baby Jebus, no. All the memories I want of that experience can remain lovingly locked away in the back of my head. Or DH can remind me. I do not want photographic (or video) evidence of me being in mass amounts of pain/looking like major-ass.?
I'm sure we will have a camera for pics of the baby and us as a family AFTER I am cleaned up and feeling semi-human again.?

I didn't with my first and there is no way that I will with my second. I have no desire to watch the birth of my son. I love my pics right after delivery holding my son, but don't need any of him coming out.
Re: Are you taping your delivery?
I will not be. And I will absolutely not allow any pushing photos, or photos of me when I'm in agony...I'm sure we'll both remember it well enough.
I will, however, have DH take a few post delivery pics in the hospital.
"You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast..."
NO.
and my hospital doesn't allow any taping from the time you start pushing until the baby is clean and you are all stitched up and clean yourself.
No.
DH will have a camera and I am thinking about having my SIL in the room just to take pictures of the baby when he is born.

DS -- 3YO
No way!!! My vag does not need to end up on youtube.....
DH will just take before and immediately after (of the baby only) pictures.

Heck no!!
Seriously. I just can't.
Childbirth is beautiful n' all...but that's really something I'd rather picture in memory...not in graphic, full color montage-ness....eww.

HELL.TO.THE.NO!
I pity the fool who shows up in my delivery room with a camera before there's a sweet little baby to photograph.
