I wondered about this and did some reading. My personal opinion is money making business. I'd advise everyone to read up on it before deciding for themselves.

i contacted a few banks for some information packets and seriously, they are worse that car salesmen! they call me almost every week to see if i have made my decision yet. i asked my doctor about what organization she suggested for donating it and she gave me a pamphlet for one of the ones i had already called.
if i cant find a worthwile organization where i can donate it i wont be banking it in a private bank because that is just way too much money for us right now

Agreed, the chance of actually using it is VERY low, especially if you dont have a history of the limited diseases it can Potentially help to cure. It's only really useful to a child up to a certain age, as the amount of stem cells is low. Not to mention, if the lab goes out of business, you are SOL or have to find another lab. If you have the $$ I guess it cant hurt, but the cost just doesnt make sense for us. I honestly couldnt even find very many success stories from people using the blood.
