1st Trimester

Anyone tell really early? Who'd you tell?

I had to tell at work today b/c I am totally green and have a may-jah case of preggy-boobs. My clothes are tight thanks to baby bloat and there was no way I was making it to 3 months. I didn't want my boss to find out from someone else so I blabbed but told her it wasn't public. They will need to hire in my absence and in Canada the mat leave is a full year. I have a lot of training to do for a new person to come in for that length of time as there are certain seasonal projects that are part of my job. I didn't have a choice.

Now our parents, best friends (DH's and mine), and select work group know. I feel like it's way too early.

Anyone tell early? Who did you tell? Did you freak out at all about telling afterwards?

  • I had to tell the guys I coached with because there are certain things I can't do now and the sex ed teacher knows because I went running down to her room (with the stick I peed on in the teachers bathroom) and asked her if she saw a pink line.

We also told my DH's business partners as this is going to be affecting some decisions we are making.

Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing at all. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker BabyFruit Ticker

  • We told our parents and siblings and then DH went and blabbed to abunch of his friends. ?

Now pretty much everyone knows because some lady in my chorus group asked me point blank if I was pregnant (apparently eating crackers means you are) and word travels fast in small neighborhoods.?

  • My parents, my siblings, his parents, his siblings and my best girlfriends know as of today. I have a feeling his best friends are gonna find out at about 4 today when we get to the bar and im not ordering rounds of shots for the first time ever Embarrassed
  • I waited 12 weeks with my firstborn.

I told DH the day I tested (5wks) & after two days we had both told almost everyone.

We just could not keep our mouths shut :O)

Hopefully nothing goes wrong with the pregnancy, but if it does I will just have that much more support from friends & family??

  • WAIT A MINUTE! You get an entire year off for Maternity leave in Canada?

I am seething, seething with jealousy

  • We told at 4 weeks and I have no regrets.  If something bad were to happen, I'd want their support.

Embarrassed Yep... it's at 60% from the gov't of our regular pay - some companies top you up to 100% (not mine) for the first 6 months. What is it down there in the States?

  • Thanks ladies! You all made me feel better. I know the ppl that know are mostly those that need to and I would want support from if anything were to happen (except maybe DH's friends he blabbed to, but they would be understanding, and he would need their support).

Sticky sticky baby dust to you all.

  • We told our parents the night we got our BFP, and our families after it was confirmed by the doctor 3 days later.  No regrets here, I figure the more support the better.

I get 6 weeks total and only 2 weeks at full pay, 4 weeks at 60%Embarrassed

I think I'm pretty normal but it varries depending on the job, some people don't get paid leave at all

  • We've told my sister, my aunt, DH's parents, and are planning on telling my parents this weekend. We've had 2 m/c- if we (knock on wood) were to have a third, we would need our families to be able to help us out with DS while we dealt with everything. So telling people doesn't necessarily elicit an "OMG" response, but, for me, I feel better letting those close to us know early.

We are really lucky in Canada to have the time that we have. It is illegal for our employer's to fire us, they have to keep our job for us for a full year.

We waited the full 12 weeks with our first. This time we've told immediate family and close friends.. and once I go to my 10 week appt, that will probably be as long as I can keep it from work.

  • I told my DH the day I found out, I told my parents today. And 2 very close friends. Will tell DH's parents soon too.

  • We found out Wednesday (4w1d), told my mother and sisters on Saturday and DH's parents and brother on Sunday.  We swore them to secrecy though until after our first appt. in April.  Oh, and I told my best friend the other day.  After the appt we are gonna tell all our family and most our friends.  There is no way possible I can keep this quiet for much longer!!

  • We couldn't keep out mouths shut about it. Everyone knows now, everyone at work and all that. We also thought we were farther along than we really are, but still told.

Yay! Another Canadian girl, especially another Ontarion. Me too.

*Jennyinheaven* - You should just move here. It's cold sometimes, but the health care is subsidized and we get the year off. :::welcomes with open arms:::
