Does your DH use you as an excuse to get out of things?

I have noticed that lately if DH doesn't want to go to a social engagement or wants to leave early, he always tells people that I am not feeling well or that I am nauseous and need to leave.  I am ok with it but I think it adds to the gazillion times a day I get asked, "How are you feeling?"  Does your DH do this?

Re: Does your DH use you as an excuse to get out of things?

  • Nope. My DH is usually the one that wants to stay longer.

  • YES!! but its okay.. id use him as an excuse too if i could!

  • We actually both use it to get out of things or to leave events early. It is a bit annoying to hear "how are you feeling" all the time but I get that with our without using pg as an excuse.
  • Yeah, but I like it. Lately nothing beats cuddling up on the couch with him and doing nothing at all :)
  • DH & I must have this unspoken agreement between the two of us about being able to use each other as an excuse to get out of things, lol.  It works out.

  • OMG yes all the time! ?Whenever someone calls and he doesn't want to hang out he says "Sorry, Nicole's not feeling well I need to stay here and take care of her, maybe next time man." ?

I'm pretty sure all his friends probably think I am the most sick person on earth.?

  • Yes, but only really to avoid travelling on weekends, when he doesn't want to go all that bad.
  • no, but i do it A LOT with him

he works nights so if i want to leave early i just say that he has to go home to get ready for work or that he has to go home cause he hasnt slept. it always works.

after we first got married and i started doing this he would say "no im not working tonight. i told you earlier remember?" and i would want to throat punch him. i had to explain to him that he would be my excuse for everything and if he ever needed one he could use me as an excuse. he doesnt much like it but ohh well its part of the deal when you get married. at least until you can start using your kids as an excuse

  • well..even before I was prego..he would say my wife says no...

  • DH works for a large multi-million dollar ranch that is basically this guys hobby. Most of the employees are good friends outside of work and they hang out a LOT! DH works the night shift alot and hardly ever has the energy to hang out with all the employees but sometimes its nice to go socialize for a while. Especially when they cook amazing meals like three nights a week for all employees. DH constantly uses me as the excuse as to why we arn't there and half the time it bugs the sh!t out of me because I want to go and he doesn't.

  • OMG, YES!  I just got a concerned email from my ILs yesterday asking me if I was alright.  It turns out my DH had told them that I was too sick to come visit them in Palm Springs for the New Year.  I was like, "Babe, wtf are they talking about?"  And he's like, "Oh, oops."

He's also used me to get out of stuff like company trips to the freaking Bahamas, Vail, Costa Rica (all before I was even pregnant).  WTF?

  • YES! It annoys me when it makes people ask me how I'm feeling a million time. But I don't mind having the time with him.
