TTC after 35

Introduction

Hi everyone!

I have been lurking here for a couple of months and posted a few times, too.  I just wanted to come out of hiding to say hello to everyone.

I am 36 and DH is 43.  Neither of us has children.  We got married almost a year ago.  DH wanted a little time to adjust to all the changes in our lives (he was a bachelor for a long time!) so we agreed to wait one year before TTC.  We've had a busy first year anyways - we fixed up and sold our two homes (bachelor and bachelorette pads!) and bought a new one together, and we've been doing a little traveling.

A lot of our friends, and DH's younger brother, are now parents (mostly happened over the past 2 years), so we've been spending a lot of time lately with their kids, and now I think it's hit DH that he wants to have a child with me.  I've been ready since the wedding.  Heheh!

I am reading TCOYF now, and have charted in the past, but I stopped temping because I think DH needs the spontenaity (at least for the first few months...he always catches me on FertilityFriend, so he knows what's going on).  However, my CM gives me very clear signals as to when I'm ready to O, so on those days, I plan to use all my charms on DH so that we BD at the right time!

Anyways, that's our story.  Just wanted to introduce myself.  This board seems like a great group of supportive people.  I know I will need some virtual hand-holding through this whole experience.  I'm excited, and scared, and worried.  I'm just glad to be here with ladies who totally understand.

  • Welcome to a fabulous board! You will really like it here! I do hope your stay is a short one. It sounds like you have done your research and are doing so many good things to know your body. Good luck!

PS- We had to sell two houses and buy one, too! Hard to do in this economy.

  • Thank you all for the welcome! I do hope my stay here in short, but if it's not, at least I am in good company!

LizzyB, we totally lucked out selling our houses.  Well, it was hard work, too.  We did a lot of fix-ups...did them ourselves, so many months of weekends were spent doing repairs, painting, cleaning, etc.  It was worth it, though.  Both homes had contracts on them within 3 weeks of being listed (we listed them at separate times).  We were pleasantly surprised! We're so happy to be in OUR home now.

  • Welcome and GL! You and LizzyB actually give me hope...we have 2 homes also, one here in NM and one in OH...fun!

Anyway, Hope your stay here is short!
