I am very musically inclined, and growing up played the flute, clarinet, piccalo and saxaphone (and played around with drums as my brother was a drummer, and my husband still is and has a really cool electronic set).
I bought an acoustic guitar in January, as I've wanted to learn to play forever, and even thoughtt I'm musically inclined, I'm having a really hard time learning how to play.
Your fingertips will be killing you when you first start playing, as the strings really hurt to press on and changing from chord to chord has been really hard for me to catch on to
I do love having it though, and am determined I will get it eventually. I say if you want to learn, go for it. I do suggest maybe picking up 2nd hand one off craigslist.org or finding a "beginner" one to buy just incase you don't like it.

DH just started guitar lessons. Apparently, acoustic is harder than electric because you have to press harder on the strings to get the the sound to come out right. He is already complaining how much his fingers hurt and he can't wait to build of callouses. He was told to only practice 15 minutes a day so he doesn't burn himself out.

I'm trying to teach myself guitar but it's not going that great. ?When I get busy, I start to slack off w/ practicing.
As far as callouses... I read that wiping your fingertips with rubbing alcohol can help build them up faster. ?I don't know if it's helped me or if I'm just slacking too much, but my fingers haven't bothered me *that* much.?

Good luck and keep me posted if you get one!
