2nd Trimester

DH is already buying baby stuff!

I've seen a lot of chicks on here talking about how early they wanted to start buying baby stuff, but has anyone else's significant other been the one to do this? I'm not superstitious or anything, it just surprises me, I guess.  We bought one of the Recaro car seats when they were on Woot.com. Great deal, so that I understood. Because that one doesn't come off the base, DH decided he wants a seat that will come off the base for his truck, so we may as well get a travel system. (His reasoning being that if we go somewhere in my car, they can ride in the Recaro, and we can put the other car seat and the stroller part in the trunk.) I thought, fine, we'll register for it, and maybe our family will get it. If not, we have the Recaro and can get the travel system later on in the pregnancy. No, he wants it now. He has a coupon! In fact, he has lots of coupons! We have to go to Babies R Us this afternoon! Must buy things! In addition to the travel system, he wants to go ahead and stock up on some bottles and look at a few others things.

I think it's awesome how excited he is, but it's hilarious when he starts telling his friends about the things he wants to buy for the baby, and they realize that I'm not the one pushing it!

    That's adorable!

MH is not like that.  I asked him the other day if he wanted any input in the registry and he said he'd help me if I wasn't sure about safety issues etc but otherwise I'm the Mom and I can pick.

I think he was confused about the "round, cushion, seat thing" as he described it - or as we know it a boppy.  He's cute

  • That's pretty cute!

  • We have most of the big things leftover from DS but DH has been buying little girl clothes since our big u/s last week!  DD already has nine new outfits, her room is painted, & DH is going to build her a princess bookshelf this weekend!  I am in big trouble!
  • My husband has done this, as well. He started off buying a few gender neutral clothes, then moved into fatherhood books, toys for the baby, stuffed animals, etc. (He hasn't bought "big ticket" items like a car seat or travel system, since those will go on our registry.) He started doing this when I was about 8w pregnant, which made me a little nervous... However, I'm not surprised he's doing this; he's a thoughtful and selfless person. It still makes me really happy when he comes home with a little present for the baby.

Oddly enough, MH knew what a Boppy was before I did. *facepalm*

He just sent me a text saying that we might as well register at BRU while we're there. Doh! Thing is, though, we're mainly registering as a shopping list for us. I'm not having a baby shower, so while our family might buy one or two things on the registry, we already know that most of the big ticket items will be on us. So I guess it's good that we're just buying them as we can, rather than getting towards the end of pregnancy and needed to shell out a lot of money at one time.

  • I think that is really great..my DH wants to buy stuff all the  time but it is usually boy stuff but we don't buy because I told him we don't know if it will be a boy or not..I think he wants the baby to be a boy sooo bad he actually thinks the baby is!

  • That is SO cute that he has coupons and everything! We are just at the looking at other people's strollers on the street stage, no shopping yet. ?

I know! He kept talking about how we have to go soon, because he has coupons. I finally asked what he was talking about, and he'd printed out a bunch of BRU coupons and clipped out the ones he wanted to use. I feel like I'm slacking now!

  • I was told not to buy any clothes but DH went to Flordia last weekend, and came home with a pink onesie! Husbands are so funny!
  • DH already bought the baby a Carolina Panthers onesie, hat and booties. It's so tiny! He has also bookmarked a website that has South Carolina Gamecock cheerleading outfits and football outfits- whichever we need!

  • DH told me not to buy anything else until the baby shower. His family is huge on gifts (thank goodness), so I'm trying to restrain myself.
  • My husband bought a Flyer's jersey (toddler/small child size).  When I explained to him it was adorable but too big for a while, he told me we can put the baby in and take pictures like it's a blanket.  Lol
