TTC after 35

Strange night!

My DH works in public safety.  I was at a stress class for families last night. It is given for the wives. It is a nice little group called the Family Assistance Unit.

The speaker is a mom of quads. I was kind of interested to hear her story but the opportunity didn't arise. One of the other wives brought her 4 month old son. I, of course, couldn't stay away and got to hold him for a 1/2 hour. I looked at him and thought how hard is this! So many people have kids!! Then during the seminar, the speaker looked at me and said " I don't know if you have kids" yada yada yada...I just looked at her with a blank stare!

It was just an odd night for me. I faired pretty well given the circumstances. I just really wanted to snatch up the 4 month old and take him home with me. The mom said she wouldn't have minded (this is her 3rd)!!

Happy Friday ladies.

Re: Strange night!

  • It's funny how it feels so different to be around kids when you are TTC.

It does seem like you handled everything just fine.

My 8-month-old cousin (cousin-in-law?) will be coming to our house with his parents on Sunday. The last time I saw them, I was in the 2ww hopeful stage. I could not put the poor boy down! This time, I'm waiting to O. So again - hopeful.

I'm glad he's not coming here the day AF is due. I might just burst into tears, between the hormones and the disappointment.

  • It's hard.

I already have one, and it's still hard. I keep alternating between grumpy mommy (because of my stressed out pre-TTC state of mind), guilty mommy (not giving him a sibling yet and all), and adoring mommy (what a wonderful little creature he is).

But then I remember how babies make you not sleep for years, put your body thru hell, and poop all the time. And yet they are still so worth it!

You did a great job getting thru the evening. And one day soon, you'll be the one passing off your baby to another woman who wants one.. Hope it happens fast!

  • Happy Friday to you too.

It's a funny though hey? Before we decided to TTC I thought of kids as mostly periphery. Once you become aware that you want one, it seems like the entire planet has reproduced over night, don't ya think?

  • Happy Friday!

Yes...I agree with Cathy...once we decided it seemed that everyone I knew was having babies.  I now have 2 girls that report into me at work prego and my bosses wife is prego (due in Nov) and one of my co-workers...also my friend... (due in Nov).  It kinda makes me wanna scream, but then again I am so happy that they are not going through the same thing that I am.
