Craving ice cold BEER!!

Have any of you been craving beer? DH had an icy cold Corona last night and I was drooling!! I had a few sips but boy do I want my own. My mom craved beer when she was pg with me and I think that is why I love it so much. Would it be terrible to have 1/2 a beer or so...you know something to get my lips wet?

  • I am right there with you. One of my favorite things in the summer is sitting outside having a beer with DH while he grills our dinner. I love beer and last year on our honeymoon really got into tasting different types of beers rather than just the old stand by Michelob Ultra. DH brought home a six pack of a spring brew by a brewery up in Wisconsin that I so wanted to try...this summer is going to be rough. At least I will deliver by the time the Oktoberfest beers come out!

  • I did when I was pregnant with R.  A friend of mine did too, and she normally won't touch a beer.  Go for it!

  • Me too!  I dont' think it would be bad to have like 1/2 a beer.  I personally am not having any because if I have 1/2 a beer, I will just want more, so its best not to have any!
  • Girl, I feel your pain.  dh has a bunch of peroni's in the fridge and I can't tell you how much I want one.  I love beer.  The most I have done is have a sip or two of his.  I'm having pizza tonight and I know he will be drinking some beer with it, that is the worst!!  Get a non-alcoholic beer.

  • Me too!! Last night I went so far as to see if my corner store carries non-alcoholic beer (they don't). I want one so badly! Yeah, a half a beer won't hurt, if you don't make it a habit. Hmmm...Now you've got me thinking.

  • Why not buy some non-alcoholic beer?

Personally I've had an aversion to it since a few weeks after my BFP. I used to love it but even the smell of FI drinking it now makes me want to puke.

  • The non- alc beer is decent.... I have a central market that has lots of different brands to try....

however, I'm of the mindset to go for it and have half a beer. I'm having a glass of wine with my dad's birthday dinner t

  • Oh. My. God.  I was right there with you last night!  We are getting pizza and wings for dinner tonight and it just won't be the same drinking ice water with lemon with it!

  • I absolutely love beer! I miss it so much. I have been so tempted to try non-alcoholic but I know it won't be as good as my Bud Light with lime. I cannot wait till I can enjoy one!

  • A beer is not going to hurt that baby.  When I was prego with  my daughter I was advised to drink a  beer or a glass of redwine a few nights a week to help me sleep.  They said it would not hurt my baby and it would do me a world of good.  In other countries they drink one nightly.  The sates and the insurance issues we have make us feel everything is high risk.

I'm almost 24 weeks prego and I've drank 2 beers and a glass of wine on nights when sleep has been absent for a while.  It does the trick.  I'm not saying drinking is ok when prego but I am saying once in a while isn't going to hurt a thing.  I do have to say that I wouldn't drink anything before your baby is fully formed.  BeerYes

  • I miss Guinness.  St. Patrick's Day just wasn't the same without it.

  • oooooo! I was just talking about this with some co-workers. I have been wanting an ice cold beer for the past 2 or 3 weeks. I even joked about how i am not counting down to the due date to see the baby, but to have a beer! This summer might be hard on me....i will miss having a beer sitting out at the lake cabin!
  • I usually like room temperature beer, so if my husband gets one at the local pub, I'll take a swig of it. It's getting warmer outside, though, so I know pretty soon I'm going to be stealing sips of his cold Rolling Rock too. My OB gave me the okay for a regular glass of wine with dinner if I wanted, so the only reason I haven't had an equal amount of beer is because it gives me terrible heartburn now.
  • I've been craving beer all pregnancy!!

So at what stage of the game do MD's give the okay for an occasional drink?  My husband drinks Abita every night and their Strawberry Festival just came out...oh so good and it's not a sweet one.  I will occasionally take a sip, but that's it.  I have cravings all the time too.

  • I've had about 1/2 beer once a week for the past few weeks. Tonight sounds like a good night for one for sure.. we're going to be grilling out and it's the first day of Spring :). I also keep a few n/a beers in the fridge because I find them really refreshing.

  • i don't crave beer yet but once it's hot out- i will.  i had a glass of wine last night....it is okay to have a beer and/or wine......it is your choice but most doctors say it is fine.  my Mom used to have several cocktails while pg with all my siblings, it was a different time, but we all turned out fine!

I was told it was okay at sixteen weeks. I didn't even have to ask her about it, she just told me if it helped me relax or sleep, or if I just wanted it, to go ahead.

  • I wasn't really craving beer, until now.........

  • me! the weather has been warming up- been in the 80s the past week or so here, and it just makes me want an ice cold beer. i was thinking about having just 1/2 off one too. i think it would be fine. maybe this weekend!

gosh, it's like when you're on a diet and are staying away from certain things they sound soooo much better!

  • There are two non-alcoholic beers that I've found to be pretty decent.  One is Clausthauler.  It's on the hoppier side, kind of like an IPA.  It's not bad and they carry it in my grocery stores (Safeway and Lucky).

The other is Kaliber.  It's actually good.  Made and imported by the folks who brought us Guinness.  It's not like Guinness, though--it's darker and more full-bodied than the Clausthauler...maybe like an amber ale (although not exactly).  I can find it at my local BevMo.

    Happy drinking, ladies!

  • ahhhhh a nice cold corona with lemon and salt!! Beer
  • i know, i know! i've had a few n/a beers which are okay, but they don't seem to make any in the style that i really, really love (wheat ales or flavored beers). DH had the nerve to bring home my favorite pumpkin ale a few weeks ago! jerk.

  • I don't like beer, but I have been wanting to have my mamosas.  I use to have them almost every Sunday.  I haven't had a drink since i have been in my current state... I so so so want one. I think I am going to wait for our first nice sunday, get my sundress on, and enjoy one ice cold glass to toast to spring.
  • oh man...i thought i was the only one craving beer. I made my husband get one while we were out to dinner just so i could smell it
