2nd Trimester

Frustrated and worn out vent!!

So My boss told me 3 weeks ago that my job is either being cut or dropped to part time hours... Fine, I accepted it and made myself a plan for either way.. If they do have to let me go, they plan on bringing me back in September or October after I have my baby. Financially my buisness isn't doing well. We just let 5 guys go, and yesterday we demoted a tech to a helper and let another helper go so it is not just me being let go.

But the last 2 weeks I have been working 6 days a week. I work only 40 hours a week, I am not allowed to get into overtime.. but I have to be here to open every morning, and I get to leave half day 2 days a week. But I am tired. Its even worse that I don't know if next week is going to be my last week. They have NO idea and I am just left hanging.. Its a 45 min drive each way to my office, so coming here 6 days a week even though its the same hours is making me tired!

I should be grateful to have my job at this point I totally understand how awful it is out there right now, but at this point, I just want them to make a decision.

Is it wrong that I am anxiously awaiting them to tell me they are letting me go?  Not knowing is driving me crazy.

  • I would feel the same way.  I hate how corporate types think it's fine to string you along and keep you un-informed.  They treat us like just another disposable company robot.  I lost my job 2 weeks ago due to company downsizing that they had been planning since NOVEMBER!!!!!!!  Um HELLO some of us could have been looking for other jobs!  I hate this economy and I hate overpaid corporate executives.

Good luck with your job, keep us posted!

  • oh i dont think what your feeling is wrong~ that would make me angry too ~ you are ultimately spending more on gas and it's kinda a waste of time for you to drive all the way out there only to leave for a half day~ could you afford to just quit now? or are they giving you some kind of benefits package when you are finally let go? i would outweigh the pros and cons~ that really sucks- uncertainty is the worst!

  • I totally feel for you, i would feel the same if i was in your shoes!

If I leave now, they will fight my unemployment request because technically they are offering me my 40 hours. So I am stuck. I know it is going to happen in the next month or so, it's just a matter of them telling me when.  It's a good company really!, They have full intentions of offering me my job back when I am ready to come back to work.  I actually would make LESS money if I went out on disability or maternity leave, so them firing me is doing me a huge favor to allow me to collect unemployment. Its 40% more on unemployment and I can get it up to 56 weeks, where disability and maternity leave I would only get about 12 weeks paid.  So I am being patient with them for that reason alone.
