anyone else with a kiddo that just hates tummy time. We are going on month 4 now and my dd#2 still totally freaks out. I do put a little support under her arms (the old padding to support a newborns head from the car seat) so it keeps her a little more elevated and comfortable so she will tolerate now for a little bit but other than that--refuses to do it.
my first was the same way but grew out of it. This one is not a fan at all--she loves laying on her back and playing w/ all the mat stuff but not her tummy. I just feel bad since since it is good for her. She still has excellent head control and can lift her head up so I should not worry.
just curiousl if anyone else has that type of kiddo....
Re: hating tummy time
Both mine have hated tummy time, so I'm bad and don't really do it with them. Jakob didn't crawl until 10 months, but other than that he was fine. And I really didn't see the delay in crawling a bad thing
Layna hates it too, which is hilarious because she just figured out how to roll from back to tummy. So I lay her, she flips over and then cries because she's stuck on her tummy!
dd#1 was a late crawler too but she rolled over on schedule
I am not that worried but I think I am just having an "I am a bad mommy" since I know that I do not spend 1/2 as much time trying to get #2 all the proper tummy time, reading, talking etc attention that I gave #1. Lucky for me #1 likes to "read" books to her and sing so I am hoping that counts for something.
thanks y'all I feel better.
DD hated it too; she still does from time to time. We had one of the mini-boppy playmats, and she was ok with that because she was propped up. Her pedi said as long as we sat her up a lot, she'd get plenty of development for her neck and back muscles. She sat up on time, doesn't roll much, but is now starting to figure out the crawling thing; she'll be 8 mos next week.
And FWIW, I'm a sucker, so if she screamed, I didn't push it. Her teacher made her do tummy time a lot though. Oh and she hated the bumbo, so that wasn't an option for strengthening either.
