TTC After a Loss

PG Ladies

I am by NO means trying to police the board, but I will ask you to PLEASE be considerate and sensitive to the fact that none of us on this board are expecting.  In fact, many ladies on this board are really hurting and desperately trying to get pregnant and/or stay pregnant.

While I know your posts of new beta numbers, u/s pics, paging people, etc. are not meant to harm or hurt, in all honesty they often do.  Believe me, we are all SO happy for your success - it gives us hope!  Those of you who actually know me realize how happy I am for you.

If you feel the need to share your good news, please know that many of us lurk on SAL to check on you, so you might want to consider using the PM feature to provide your TTCAL friends an update.  I have become friends with many wonderful ladies from this board - some are still here with me, some on SAL, and many on PAL - and we just email, update blogs, or post on FB/Twitter to share updates with one another.

This is just one opinion (mine), yet I thought it was important to share.  We love you all and want you to experience uneventful and wonderful pregnancies!  Please simply remember that there are many women on here who are frustrated and hurting, and they deserve our respect too.

Todd & Kristin, 3.10.07

After 5.5 years of loss, heartbreak, and empty arms, our dreams were fulfilled through the beautiful, selfless gift of adoption. We are amazingly blessed!

I do check SAL most days and scan for names I recognize... I definitely enjoy updates from ex-regulars but I get what you're saying Kristen. There are moments when we just don't want to see/hear about pregnancy and it's nice to be able to avoid them on bad days.
  • I'm sorry if any posts of mine have caused hurt feelings on this board *hugs*  I tend to lurk more than post, but I do page some of my friends who are exclusively on this board....so hopefully that is "okay" with everyone.

  • I really don't think she was trying to be ignorant at all in her post. I know that the girls I have become close to are thrilled with my pregnancy but maybe it is hard sometimes for them. Can you blame them? I know with my loss, it was hard to find out others were pregnant. Regardless, of how excited I was/am for them.

so no i wasn't trying to joke.  i can't keep track of things and could have sworn i have seen women expecting here.  i also didn't get that once you get bf you are not welcome here.  oopppssss

  • For the pg girls, it's called being thoughtful.  There are ladies here that have been trying for more than six months after their m/c.  Kekis was not trying to be rude at all.  There are good days and  bad days, but it does hurt when you've been trying for several months and you see new people come and go quickly and you still remain.  It hurts...plain and simple.

Yes, SAL girls are welcome back, but be selective when posting or replying.

I think it took courage to say how she and so many others feel on this board.  I wanted to say the same thing so many times.

  • I am sorry for those that have hurt feelings. I know that sometimes when I read about the pg updates that I get sad too. But I also know that when I get pg I would still like to be here and have you ladies be there for me too. I don't ever take the posts from PG or the repost from SAL as "rubbing it in my face". I actually kind of find it inspiring, as long as I am not having a bad day. I don't like lurking on SAL because I don't know most of those girls and I feel that being there is a little "too much" for me.

Thanks, Amanda.  I was in NO way trying to insinuate that people are not welcome here.  It's far from that actually.  The PL/TTCAL/SAL/PAL boards are the most welcoming boards on the internet IMO.  I just think everyone that visits or frequents any such boards need to be considerate of the members there.

I realize that almost all of you do not know me IRL.  If I was trying to be rude, you'd know.  Wink

  • Kekis, I know you are one of the sweetest people on the board, and I know that you were not attacking or being rude in any way. :)

However, when I got my BFP last week I had most people here telling me to keep them updated. So when people say that I'm going to assume it's okay to keep them posted. Also, I know that being here I NEVER checked on SAL to keep updated with people. I would always get caught up in other posts and get depressed. When oldies like luvs, Kathy, Michelle, Lauren got their BFPs I loved seeing their updates here. I guess I just feel like you can see in the subject line what the post is about and if you'd rather not read it then don't. I might not have been here as long as others, but I've been here for a very long and hard 6 months and I do want to keep those updated who want to be updated. I also have many girls here who I consider friends, and am having some trouble moving on to SAL....I feel like I'm in limbo. I know what it's like to see people get pregnant and not be, and it's hard. I knew that the driveby BFPs were an issue, but now I feel like me, who has gone through that, can't come here and keep my friends updated because it hurts others. What made it okay for everyone else and not us who are recently new to this and are still very nervous and scared? I guess I'm just confused...

Perfect!  I think the drive-by-BFPs are sketchy, but updates from a TTCAL grad are ok in my book.

    Mrs.Myers,

Then do you "get" how your response is b!tchy and insensitive?  Wow!  I might not agree with some of what has happened, but your responses are beyond what I would have expected from a grown adult who has been through this type of thing before!

BTW, NO ONE is saying that once you get a BFP you are not welcome.  All that has been said is that those who have gotten the BFP, can you please TRY and be a little more sensitive to those of us who have been trying for a long time and still have not gotten the BFP?  The act of trying makes a difference, but b!tchiness like this response and the appalling ignorance don't help matters at all- it just makes them worse!

  • As someone who has been on this board waay longer than I thought I would, I've gotten to know some amazing women and am thrilled for them when they "graduate" ! : ) Personally, I feel more of a connection to those I"ve gotten to know than the fly by BFP's'...

  • Wow, I think we just had our first GBCTTCAL.

Anyways, as one who's been on this board since it's conception- it's really not anything new for people to post their beta and u/s updates. This discussion took place quite some time ago, when we had the run of drive by BFP's, and it seemed to be the general concensus that hearing updates from "regulars" that had graduated was ok. I can remember May, and Katie LM posting their beta's and about their first u/s's. I'm sure with the huge number of BFP's these past few weeks it seems like TTCAL is being inundated with updates from pg girls, but, honestly, we just want to share with our friends what is going on. If this board isn't supposed to have anything about pregnant ladies, then I guess all BFP announcements would have to be made over on SAL, and people should just check there? I'm sorry, but this has taken me a year and a half, and I feel like shouting from the rooftops. I know others are having much longer TTC journeys than myself, but I hope that one day, when you too get your BFP, you're able to share your joy with those on this board that you have grown close to.

  • MrsMyers,

OMG, Please try a new skill, it is called reading.  I repeat:

NO ONE is saying that once you get a BFP you are not welcome.  All that has been said is that those who have gotten the BFP, can you please TRY and be a little more sensitive to those of us who have been trying for a long time and still have not gotten the BFP?

That does not mean y are being "kicked out"  It is only asking that you TRY to be a little more respectful.

Do you truly enjoy putting words into posts that really where not there???

I completely agree.  I was just mad at the insensitivity of someone's posts.  Personally BFP's give me hope that one day it will happen to me, so I like seeing them.  It lets me know that it is still possible and one day I will be the one with the BFP!!!!!
