Usually DH and I go grocery shopping together, and we each take one baby in a cart, but when I go alone I always go to the grocery store that has the double carts
My mother tells me what when my twin sister, older sister and I were little, she would put us all in one cart in the main portion, and then immediately go to get milk. She would pin us each in place with a gallon of milk and then drag another cart behind her for the rest of the shopping.
I either order groceries online (which has been a life saver this winter!!) OR i put one baby in the baby bjorn, and the other i have in the car seat, inside of the shopping cart. Make sure you build in some extra time for your shopping trip because every other person will stop you to ask if it's twins, etc.
I used to leave one baby in her carseat and put that in the cart and put the other baby in my front carrier. That method worked relatively well for me and seemed easier than pulling a cart and pushing a stroller.
well, when they're that little, i'd put one car seat up top, and one in the cart, but that doesn't leave you with much room for groceries. or your other girl. you could put the twins in a double stroller and pull the cart, if your older daughter can walk. hmm.
On the weekends, so DH can stay with the kids! When I wasn't working yet, I took them in the double snap n go and only bought what would fit underneath!
For our "main" weekly grocery trip, DH & I have always gone together on the weekends . . . he pushes the cart and I push the twins in their stroller. If I just need to pick up a few things on my own, I put them in the stroller and I have stroller hooks that I put the reusable grocery bags on. I can't really put anything heavy in there (although sometimes I'll put milk or something like that inbetween B&K in the stroller) and it sort of looks like I'm shoplifting, but I don't care. You gotta do what you gotta do, right?
sadly, i don't go with DDs. I'm just too wimpy and it seems easier to just go in alone quickly, when DH is home to watch them (either at night once they are asleep or on the weekends). I now buy in BULK and we have an extra freezer . . .
I normally go on the weekends and leave the girls at home with their dad. But if I have to take them with me, I don't get much because I just stick stuff under the double stroller.
I'm definitely tempted to try shopping online. That would probably make my life a whole lot easier!
I'm in the same boat as you - toddler plus the twins. When I was home on maternity leave, I'd go shopping every week with just my son and leave the babies at home with DH or nanny or grandparents, whoever was willing. It became "our time" sand was actually fun. Now that I am back at work, I've been ordering online through Peapod. It's an absolute lifesaver!! I don't think I'll be taking all 3 for a long time. Why put myself through that stress when there are alternatives??
I go grocery shopping on Sunday, when I can have my peaceful alone time (I never thought I'd say that about the grocery store - LOL!) and DH can stay home with the hellions. Occassionally, when I'm feeling adventurous, or have had too many Red Bulls, I will bring one or two of the kids with me. But even though I'm getting them out of the house and getting to spend a little one-on-one time with them, it usually just slows me down so it doesn't happen often.

i just take them with me. when they were very little i would push the cart and drag the SNG...then push the BOB and drag the cart...now they are in the shopping cart so it is easy.
i love to grocery shop and the boys really enjoy it also and DH has been in a grocery store maybe 10 times in the last 10 years....and most of it in the last year
My stroller has handles so I just throw my reusable bags over the handles and fill them up, plus I use the basket underneath for the heavier stuff. At BJs, they have the double carts so I just sit them in them...they love that! They think it's tons of fun!
oh yeah, and this was awesome - at whole foods (and some other stores) they have the racecar carts. maybe your toddler could ride in that part, and then put the babies in the cart in their carseats?
