Infertility

Has anyone had IVF cancelled right before ER (saifw)?

So my ER was supposed to be today but since we didn't find sperm my clinic cancelled it.

I triggered on Tuesday night and feeling lots of pressure and pain around my ovaries.

Any idea when this will go away?  How long before I get a period?

Thanks in advance.

Haven't had a canceled IVF, but did have a cancelled IUI that I'd already triggered for.  I had 8-10 follicles and honestly, it was NOT fun.  You should ovulate within about 36 hours and believe me, you'll feel it, but the pressure will stay with you for a bit.

I had also developed OHSS (E2 levels were crazy) so I think that contributed to it.

You should expect to get AF in about 14 days or however long your LP usually is.  Although if you have a lot of follicles, you'll have decent enough progesterone that it should take the full 14 days.

take care.  I was so sorry to read your post.

I actually know someone who did - Serenity at Serenitynow!  had to cancel before retrieval for her third IVF - let me find the link to her blog: https://serenitynowinfertile.wordpress.com/2007/03/page/2/

She was cancelled due to fear of OHSS - it happened March of 2007.

Again, I'm so, so sorry hon.

  • Is there any way they can still retrieve and freeze your eggs?

This way they are ready to go perhaps with donor sperm? I hate to see you lose out on a good cycle but I know you and dh prob need time together to grieve and work out the best options for you-where in fact IVF may not even be needed.

I am so so sorry to hear about this but there is always hope and always a plan for all of us, pls take comfort :) (((hugs))))

  • Me!

I had a cancelled IVF before ER for fear of OHSS and too many follies (like 28+ on each ovary), but I had not yet triggered so it might be different for you. I was VERY uncomfortable and it even hurt when I walked. I could not fit into my cloths, and it took about 2-3 weeks to get better.

So sorry you have to go through this.

Cornell didn't offer it as an option.  I would have donated my eggs but needed more testing prior to start of cycle.

I guees I'll just deal with it, it's unpleasant and uncomfortable but nothing to what DH is feeling.

    Thanks Ladies

  • I would call them and ask if you can still do the ER and just freeze your eggs, makes much more sense!

  • twice! the night right before ER. it sucked. I had too few follies and my RE didn't think it was wise to go through with ER. I know cornell does not freeze eggs but I think that is just a matter of time.

I'm so sorry you had to cancel. your body gets so beat up during stims and then the disappointment. it's not easy.

    :(

  • We had to cancel an IVF cycle a few days before ER because I developed OHSS and it was going to be dangerous to go ahead with the retrieval.  I had a lot of pressure and pain because I was so overstimulated but I got a period within just a couple of days because of the massive drop in E2 levels--that made me feel much better.

I'm sorry you're having to go through this.

  • First, I am so sorry:(

We converted one of our IVFs to an IUI due to poor resonse and the other was cancelled because we had a dominant follicle.  I am guessing that you should ovulate right about the same time as they would have done the ER.  Hopefully the pressure will subside between tonight and tomorrow.  I got AF 13 days after I ovulated.  As long as you are not on progesterone, it shouldn't be delayed.

  • I have no advice, but wanted to say sorry. I am sure this is very?disappointing?and frustrating.

    (((HUGS))?

  • I was so sorry to hear your story. I had an IVF cycle canceled on Day 8 due to low response (I never triggered). I had no pressure or pain due to the low follicle count, and I got AF 10 days later.
