Parenting after a Loss

Raw spot in diaper area

DD had a bad diaper rash which has gone away, except for a raw spot.  Luckily it doesn't seem to be causing her much pain.  I've been giving her nudie time so we can air it out as much as possible.  She hates to be wet so she already gets changed frequently.  When she is diapered, I've been alternating with lanolin and aquaphor so there is a barrier.  Is there anything else I should be doing??

Re: Raw spot in diaper area

  • do you have any diapers in the next size up? ?when E's diaper rash got really bad a month or so ago - i would put him in a bigger diaper so that it didn't lay right on his skin. ?seemed to help a little.

poor kiddo - hope her bum feels better soon?

  • big glob of vaseline?

  • ILEX paste is the only thing thats helps get DD's diaper rash away. It's an extremely thick paste that dries rubbery and meant to act as a barrier. It sticks to the diaper when you take it off. You are not supposed to clean all the paste off, just wipe over it and leave it (if DD poops its inevitable, I wipe it off. When she pees, its fine). You have ot order it from the pharmacy (no prescrip needed). It was $10 at CVS
  • It could also possibly be a staph infection. Milo had a bit of staph after a fungal rash - there were two raw patches, a little oozy, and red. My pedi had us put neosporin on it twice a day and it healed up on its own in a couple days. Anyway, neosporin can't hurt.
