Anyone Take Macrobid for UTI?

So I felt it coming on yesterday and the UTI is in full force today...As if I don't already have enough going on with my body!

Called my OB/GYN and they called in a prescription for Macrobid. Of course I went online to see if I could find any info and there are huge mixed reviews (like everything else!).

Has anyone here taken it? If so, good or bad?

    I just finished up my perscription of Macrobid this morning.  I find most things have very mixed reviews on the internet and I trust my midwife to make a good decision.  UTI's can also cause PTL, so get some antibiotic going as soon as possible!

    I've taken it for years, and on and off my pregnancy.

    The only downside: have a full stomach whenever you take it, sometimes it can upset your stomach and make you sick.

    Other than that, you're golden!

    I had two UTI's this pregnancy and I took macrobid both times for it. ?I had no side effects and doctor assured me that it was completely safe for me and baby.

    I took it...it made me sick to my stomach and really drowsy...nothing you can't handle if you can take a nap.  If you're working on the other hand, you might ask for something else.

    I took it early on for a UTI. No probs that i know of.

    I've taken it pre-pregnancy and once early in my second tri. Both times with no side effects and it worked well.

    I had chronic UTI's when I was pregnant with DS and ended up on Macrobid for the duration of my pregnancy.  It was all good.

    I took it when I was 27 weeks for a UTI.  The pharmacist told me when he was going to hand it over that I "shouldn't take it".  Freaked me out, so I called my OB to see if maybe she mis-prescribed.  She told me to pass the phone to him and proceeded to rip him a new one.

    Then I got back on the phone and she told me she has been prescribing it forever.  Of, course, I trust my doctor over a pharmacist, but you always hear those stories of pharmacies messing up.

    I had no problems with the medication.  Cleared up the UTI and have not had one since.
