2nd Trimester

How much do you feel baby?

I went to my doctor appointment this week, I'm 25 weeks, and the doctor told me I should be feeling movement everyday. She also told me that if he seems like he is slowing down to let her know. Now I am paranoid with how much I feel him... I usually only feel him kicking for a total of 1/2- 1 hour a day. (My doctor said that was fine) Now I'm worried if I don't feel him by 11:00 in the morning. Who else is paranoid at the amount their baby is moving? Does your baby just have slow days?

Re: How much do you feel baby?

  • Me! I have had paranoid moments when I haven't felt her as much. I know they have "lazy" days now and then, but it's still a little scary!

  • I only feel him a small number of times (maybe three) periodically through the day.  Usually it is when I have been still for a while or before bed.  I also have an anterior placenta, so most of the movement I feel extremely low or occasionally on the very sides.

I really wouldn't be so concerned, esp since your doc said the duration of movement is fine.

  • I'm not quite as far along as you are, but I have been feeling my LO a lot more frequently lately. I do feel her every day, but she does have slow days where I might only feel movement in the afternoon, or some in the morning then none until bedtime, etc.
  • I definatly have my moments, But ever since he started kicking around 16 weeks, I have been monitoring the times he is most active and what foods make him kick...

He is most active between 9-10am, then again between 1-2 then he becomes VERY active between 9-10pm for about 1/2 hour. So far he kicks when I have orange juice, pineapple, strawberries...anything spicy...and if I take a warm bath.

It's a good idea to start paying attention to the things you eat and the times of the day he is most active. It will help you be less paranoid!

  • I feel her very regularly throughout the day... usually she wakes me up in the morning... then I feel her kicking once I get to work for about 30 minutes straight... then after lunch... then in the evening.

  • Each child moves differently so keep that in mind.  With my first child, he moved constantly in the womb.  He is now 3 and still does not know how to sit still - he is one of the most active children I've ever seen.  With my second, he is not moving nearly as much so we are hoping he is a much calmer baby.  Sometimes when I get worried I haven't felt movement in awhile I eat or drink something with a little sugar or caffeine or poke at my belly.  I usually get atleast a little kick or two out of it and then I know he is fine.

  • I get paranoid sometimes too. I'm 25 weeks and definitely feel him everyday but not ALL day. Maybe a kick or 2 here or there every couple hours and then each day there may be one or two half hour episodes where he'll move a lot. Yesterday I got paranoid because I'd only felt him once or twice by late afternoon so I just sat there until I felt enough movement to make me feel better.

  • I feel my baby moving all the time, except for when I'm really up and moving around. He's pretty quiet during the morning, although I can still feel him occasionally. After lunch, however, it's like a party in there. He's crazy.

If you're baby is not moving, gently shake and poke your stomch a little bit. That should wake him up a bit.

  • I have felt her move everyday since 18 weeks.  And up until 28 weeks, I have decided I won't worry about how much until I hit 28 weeks when kick counting starts.  At 18 weeks it was deffinately more kicks and than starting around 21 weeks I noticed more subtle rolls than kicks and it's been that way since.  I do tend to worry on slower movement days and have noticed she will have a day where she moves a ton than have slower movement days compared to the lots of movement day.  So I guess I'm starting to see a trend and don't worry too much as long as I feel her several times thorughout the day.
