LC always pick Medela because that is what most hospitals have. That being said I have the Medela pump in style and it worked well for me. I will use it this time as well. I would ask this question on the Breastfeeding board as well and see what other people have used.
I'm borrowing a Medela PIS, but I'm really interested in the Lasinoh...it's half the price and much less bulky. I'd rather buy own bag (Lasinoh doesn't come with one)...one that's way cuter than the Medela bag.

Ameda Purely Yours, which I think was bought by Lansinoh. The LC at my hospital recommended the Ameda over the Madela because it's a closed system pump, and it's also cheaper. It worked great for me for 7 months, and I'll be using it again with this one.
I have the lansinoh double electric and love it. ?I actually rented a medela harmony, the hospital grade pump, for my first week home. ?The lansinoh actually got more milk out. ?Its a great pump for the price and like a PP said you just have to get a bag...but when you save 150 that isnt a problem.?
I'm planning on getting the Ameda Purely Yours pump as well - I've heard great reviews about it compared to the Medela and it is cheaper. We are waiting to buy one until after the baby comes and we know for sure breastfeeding will work out, so I'll probably start with a hospital rental.
I used the Ameda purly yours to EP for over 2 months with my DS - and it was great. It's the only FDA approved pump that can be used without having any back up into the system (ie- no mold, bacteria, etc - and therefore can even be bought used - just get new flanges/tubes).
it's the same as the Lansinoh actually - just under another name. The cost is much less than Medela- but works awesome. It is the one a top LC in the area recommends.
Re: Which breast pump do you have, or want? I just realized that
I am getting the Medela PIS - I've heard great things about it from everyone that owns it.
