XP: Recommend your walker.

DD is pulling herself up and I think she would enjoy a walker. Can you please recommend one!

Thanks :)

Re: XP: Recommend your walker.

  • From what I have read, walkers are not as popular as they used to be b/c Dr's now say that they don't really help w/ walking, as it is not the natural posture / muscles they would use walking on their own..

Thank you very much for pointing that out. I meant to type push toy instead of walker, but it seems like those would be bad too b/c they block vision of the feet.

  • We had a v-tech walk behind toy.

  • DH got DD a combi walker...its a car that you can either sit in or push.  He is very old school and wanted to get her one.  She likes it but is not in love with it unless other kids are playing w it.  I actually think my 2 year old niece likes it more than her.
  • DS's physical therapist told me that push toys are better for when they know how to walk, bc lots of time the toys aren't heavy enough and babies end up walking with their arms too far out in front of them, so it's not as natural a position for them.

I second the launrdy basket turned upside-down. Or you....DS does enjoy hanging on our legs and "walking" with us.

    DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)

  • DD LOVES both of hers... she has the fisher price stride to ride lion and brilliant basics walker. She also uses EVERYTHING as a walker... the dining chair, her activiity table, her piano... she makes them become walkers :)
