Cute/Knife to the Heart Story

I teach first grade and my kiddos are the cutest things ever.  The teacher across the hall is 28 weeks pregnant, and it has been pretty hard to watch her ever-growing belly after it took her "so long" to get pregnant.  (It took her 4 months... but I digress.)  My class and her class do quite a bit of stuff together, so my kids have also watched her get bigger and bigger.  They are naturally pretty curious and they love to give her baby hugs.  Today she was talking to me about how they might deliver her little boy early because he is breech, and a few of my kids overheard.  One little girl was asking me questions about when she has her baby and then said to me "I wish you were having a baby, Mrs. T.  Then we could hug your baby all the time."  So innocent... if only it were that easy!

  • Love your soul...I completely understand.  I work with 3rd graders and our Guidance Couselor is VERY pregnant.  The kids just seem to say what is on their minds.  "Wow Ms. C., you are huge!"  That is a quote from one of our 3rd graders to our G.C.
  • my patients always tell me "you should have kids, you'd be such a good mom".  It totally touches my heart, but also makes me want to cry.
