  • I found it was way more important and informative for my DH. I think it was good for him to see and hear all the information. Overall it was a good expereince for both of us.

  • A few posts below I discussed how we are leaving our class, and its a complete waste.

Ours was all in one day. ?I don't know if I would have done it if it was spaced out over several weeks-- but I thought the day long class was worth it. ?DH really learned much more than me and got to ask questions specific to hospital policies and such. ?

It wasn't much more than I already knew from books, the internet, fellow moms and good old Discovery Channel but was invaluable for DH and really helped prepare him for what was coming.

  • I'm kinda torn on this one.  We are taking birthing classes and I really look forward to them every week, but there are some parts that I kinda wish I didn't know about before hand.  We have seen more than one fairly graphic video and I think I could have done with out them.  Before the classes I was not as scared about the birth part (mainly because it is coming and there is nothing I can do to stop it) but more concerned about parenting for the next 18 years, and now I have a new fear of labor.  On the other hand we have gotten some good positions to relieve pain during pregnancy, tips on how to labor more effectively, and DH has really gotten educated on what is going to happen when we go to the hospital.  It helps that I really like our instructor and the people in our class.  It is also a huge plus that all the soon to be moms get a massage from DH at the end of every class!
  • I wouldnt say it was a complete waste, just more of an annoyance. I didnt learn anything I havent already read in a book or online. And the girls in the class were rather annoying...

  • I really liked it.  Ours was a class spread out over 3 Tuesday nights which worked better for me because I felt we could take in more and got to know the other couples better.

Since I have read A LOT, there was not much that I didnt already know but I do think that different kinds of learning (visual vs. auditory) can be helpful to make things stick.

Since it was at our hospital, everything we talked about was specific to how it would most likely be, rather than the generic or various methods for certain things a book covers.

Lastly, it gave DH and I something to do together each week that was bonding time.  And as others have said, he doesnt read much (understatement) so I feel better knowing he absorbed a lot of the important stuff.
