Swimming Ladies - Swim Diaper??

Ugh...I bought some disposable ones this weekend and apparently we are suppose to have a reusable one. My question is where can I get one? I looked at Target but they didn't have any.

  • I haven't found them in the stores yet.  If you find them please post where.

Question:  does that diaper go under swim trunks?  I have a couple pair if swim trunks that have a liner already, I was under the impression that that was the diaper and I do not need anything additional.  I was planning on bring two pair of swim trunks just to make sure.  Maybe I should get a swim diaper as well to cover all my bases.  IDK.

  • You need something like these to go UNDER the swim trucks ... to hold in any poopies they might have.

  • Thanks Totty!! Do you think if I order it today I will get it in time for our lessons?

Flygeah - LOL Yes you have to put something on under the trunks like Mrs Totty said to keep the poopies out of the pool. It's a health code thing.

As far as why it has to be a reusuable one I'm not sure. My neighbor told me this info the other day after I bought the disposable ones.

Yeah, most definitely ... I got mine in like, 4 or 5 days?  It was really fast shipping.

Could it be that the disposable ones will absorb a LOT of water and will become very heavy, making it hard for the baby to stay afloat?  Not that we're tossing them into the water and going for margaritas, but this is what I found on Totty's site:

Many states require swim diapers when diaper-aged children use a public pool. When a swim diaper fits properly, most bacteria including E.coli are prevented from entering the water.  So prevent messy pool accidents by using a swim diaper!

Swim diapers won't fall apart in the water and therefore won't clog pool filters.  Because they don't absorb water, they don't become waterlogged and heavy.  Therefore, they do not absorb urine (so please beware so you don't get a wet lap!).  If swim diapers would absorb urine they would also absorb water, potentially pulling baby under water.  This is also true for disposable swim diapers.

I couldn't resist the dang pink and white floral suit either...I can use the excuse that we're going to the Cape this summer - she needs bathing suits!  ;)

  • What confused me is: I have seen a few trunk that say they have the diaper as the inner liner, but they just look like a regular linings.  Like these (I just found that info from Totty's link):

This is the type I have for Keanan, I don't know if I trust that alone.

I am going to get a swim diaper as well to cover my basis.
