Are you finding your muscles and joints ache worse for days on end after doing weights?
I can't decide if I just way over did it on Monday, or if it's just that I hurt more because of having looser joints from the pregnancy right now. I did a lot of lower body and upper body combined work that day, and my legs and hips are so sore I can barely waddle. I'm wondering if it may be time to drastically cut back on the weights and stick to the cardio equipment.
Re: For those still working out
My muscles and/or joints aren't aching because of working out. You probably overdid it or maybe weren't properly hydrated. That will encourage more lactic acid build up in the muscles which causes the achiness.
I also love working out. I work out every day and teach classes. It is so yummy.
So sorry for your sore muscles! I think you're right - you may have overdone it a bit and didn't drink enough water. Like the other ladies are saying, I've been doing lighter weights 2-3 times a week, just for about 15-20 min. at a time. I was never a big weightlifter to begin with, though, I always enjoyed cardio more.
I wouldn't cut out weights/strength training completely - maybe modify with lighter weights and compliment the weights with some cardio work, too.
I love working out, too!
It's great to be able to continue working out while pregnant....I was feeling sorry for myself for a few weeks when my dr. wouldn't let me run after a small mishap earlier in pregnancy, but he's lifted all the restrictions except running. For that, I'm thankful!
Actually, I've dropped the weight by almost half for my arms cause I was finding that my wrists and elbows were aching... ?I wondered the same thing if it had to do with looser joints. ?
I have read that exercise, including weights is safe to continue though...
