We introduced the bottle to DS around 3 weeks and he took it right away with no problems (we have been giving him a bottle every 2-3 days since introducing him to it). Now 2 weeks later, the last two times we've offered it to him he will not take it and ends up screaming until I give up and give him the breast. Has this happened to anyone else? How did you get your LO to take the bottle again? TIA!
Re: DS won't take bottle anymore...
I wouldn't worry about it too much. He might just be fussy and really want the comfort of mom right now. Also, there is a growth spurt at 6 weeks, so he might be more needy for mommy if he's in that.
Hold off for a week and then try again. We only offered my daughter a bottle about once a week during maternity leave and it was usually when I was out of the house (grocery shopping, etc), and she took it fine when I went back to work.
Same for us. DS will sometimes get a bit fussy on Tuesdays with his first bottle (I work Tuesday - Friday) but he takes it and after that the rest of the week is smooth sailing!
