New York Babies

New York Methodist Hospital (Brooklyn, NY)

My doctor is affiliated with NY Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.  I'm trying to learn more about this hospital and make sure it's the place where I want to deliver!  Does anything out there have any experience with this place?  Either the delivery room or any other department in this hospital.  Thanks so much for your help!!!!

Re: New York Methodist Hospital (Brooklyn, NY)

  • I delivered my son June 18th there and had a great experience. All the staff were very nice and helpful...i ended up needing an emergency c-section due to Pre-clamsia...and the staff from the anesthesiologist down to the nurses in the recovery room were great! Before my c-section we were in one of the delivery rooms and they were nice, they try to make them feel "homey" i guess with a rocking chair and private bathroom. My only complaint is that the patient rooms are kind of small, so its kind of difficult to have visitors while your roomate has them at the same time, but you can pay extra to have a private room if you choose. I kept Aaron with me in the room the entire time i was there, but you can have the nurses watch after your baby in the nursery while you try to rest at night...i kind of wish i would have taken advantage of that while i was in there, because once your home...theres VERY little sleep for the first 3 months! :)

    HTH! :)
    Good luck and congrats!

  • I was born there and turned out okay Smile  good luck
  • I gave birth in Methodist when they were in the middle of renovating/moving  their labor and delivery unit in 2007, so I didn't have a great experience because it was very chaotic.  It took such a long time for them to find me a room and bed which prolonged my much needed epidural.  All that said, they are a very good hospital, and I will go back for baby #2 if and when we are ready. I have also had surgery in the past there.   My friend recently gave birth there 5 months ago, and she had a great experience.  I hope that helps!
  • Thank you all for such great information!  I really appreciate your sharing your experiences with me... and your advice :)  I think I might take advantage of having the nurses watch my little one at night while I get some z's.  I know it will be a long time before I'll have that luxury again.

    Smile
