Pump help, please!

I HATE my pump. I got the Lansinoh Double Electric and I really hate it. I can't get any milk out with it, no matter how high I turn the suction and speed. It just plain doesn't work. Granted, I've only tried it a few times, but it really isn't working. And, the flanges are way too small and I think that may be the problem but I really don't want to pay a billion dollars to get bigger flanges and it STILL not work for me. I am freaked out by this because I have a Medela Symphony rental, and I don't want to keep renting it forever! Can someone recommend a pump for me? And if I need to get a Medela, will the parts that I have for the Symphony work with it? Thank you!

Re: Pump help, please!

  • Also, how long are you pumping?  I actually need to pump for about 25 minutes to get what I need out.  Some women take a while to respond to a pump.  Try massage/compression too... it helps me a ton.  Here's a video:  https://newborns.stanford.edu/Breastfeeding/MaxProduction.html

Try bigger flanges.  It's cheaper than a new pump, right?  You could try pumpin pals-- supposedly they're way more comfortable. https://www.pumpinpal.com/  I personally don't know because I use the ones that I bought for my PISA.

Also, it may be because the speed is too high.  I do better on a lower speed than a higher speed.

If you were to go and by a Medela PISA, yes, the parts you have from the Symphony will almost work.  The tubing has these little connectors on the end that the PISA doesn't need. But, the PISA comes with all the parts and the tubes don't need to be washed so you're fine (or you can snip the ends off if you want).

    Good luck!!!

  • I use the Medela PISA and have been really happy with it.  Maybe you could call Medela and see if they can offer help/suggestions?
