It would come as a real shock. I really don't get how they have n o idea though. How can you not know you are 9 months pregnant...wouldn't you feel the baby moving? or do you just assume that you have on hell of a case of gas gurgles.

I haven't seen it, but when I used to work at a loan office it happened to a client's girlfriend. She went in for stomach pain and delivered a baby.

I'm pretty sure I would freak the hell out. I did soooo much research and just getting myself mentally prepared while I was pregnant, and I knew at 5 weeks. Just suddenly being thrown a baby while I have no baby gear or knowledge would probably send me to a nut house.

Honestly, I don't believe it. My husband's cousin maintains that she didn't know she was pregnant when she had her son (she was a teen at the time) but I just don't buy it.

Its crazy. Your body changes so much its hard to believe that someone could ignore all the signs!

That said, I DO know someone who didn't know she was pregnant. She's a big girl and said her periods were always irregular. Her baby was born addicted to caffeine b/c she drank a ton of Mt. Dew every day. Still, hard to believe.

This one lady just delivered twins and had "no idea" she was pregnant. That seems a little unreal to me. How do you not know, especially if you have two babies in there!!!!

I used to work with a girl who claimed that she didn't know that she was pregnant with her son until she was in labor, he was full term. Then everyone started to notice that she was pregnant again but she said nothing, we would send people over to talk to her and ask her questions regarding when she was going to have another and so on. She would always say that her DS was going to be an only child and she and her husband were not interested in having another. Sure enough she "found out" that she was again pregnant at 8 1/2 months. My thought was always if everyone you work with can figure it out, why the hell are you not able to or even someone in your family. She drove me insane, it was like a waiting game for us, maybe today susie will discover her huge protruding baby belly!

My friend had this happen to her. When she went into the hospital for stomach pain, they first thought that she had a tumor. She always had a larger belly and she just had a baby so she assumed that she never started her postpartum period.

Yeah, I don't get it. I really don't. I can understand having an anterior placenta and not being able to feel kicks, but there are other signs and symptoms of pregnancy that you just can't explain away as something normal. Seriously, during the first trimester I felt close to death. If I didn't know I was pregnant, I would've surely thought I had something terminal like cancer. That alone would've sent me to the Dr. for observation. Unless you're that out of tune with your body, I'm just not buyin' it at all.

I also have irregular periods and still knew I was pregnant before I even took the test. Of course, I was hoping/praying to be pregnant, so I was very aware of it all, but still!

My sister found out she was pregnant with #3 when she was 7m. Baby didn't move until 9m, and nothing was back to normal from #2, who was 8w when she got KU again. Only found out when she passed out at Walmart and they took her to the hospital.

Had a 48yo friend who found out she was pregnant two days before baby was born. She knew something was wrong, and her doctor told her initially it was menopause, then later that it was a tumor. When they finally figured out what it was, she was relieved and shell-shocked. She looked like she'd just been hit in the face with a shovel.

a friend of a friend just had a baby in march. she found out in december she was pg. she'd only been dating the guy a few weeks when she conceived. this girl was a smoker and drank like a fish. baby is completely healthy. thank gawd! she got very lucky.

What's even more disturbing than all these women who were pregnant & didn't know is that a woman is pregnant but doesn't know, goes to the doctor, and the DOCTOR can't even figure it out! Just reinforces my lack of confidence in the medical profession...
