  Preggers
  1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?

  36 weeks and 2 days. Aches and pains....everything aches and pains. The worst is that baby DROPPED!! This adds to the tailbone and bladder pain, not to mention the cervix is a punching bag pain. I think that that last month is way worse then the entire 1st tri.
  
  2. What are you looking forward to this next week?

  Being done with report cards. Baby can come anytime after I finish, since this is really my last important task before going on leave.
  
  3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?

  Tomorrow, St. Patty's day. I am having the Group B Strep test and maybe an internal (not sure). Either way, not a pleasant experience.
  
  4.   We are doing our child birth classes late....we opted for the all day weekend one, instead of the weeks long classes. What is the most important thing that we should take out of the class? (From a REAL mom perspective, not from an instructor perspective).

  5.  When will you stop working?

   

  I am scheduled to work up until the day that I am due. I did have to cut my hours back to 1/2 time. We will see if I can make it to 40 weeks @ work. I am pretty miserable right now. And my job is so high energy (4th graders all day).

   

  6.   Best tips for registering?

  Nope, don't really have any tips. I am a little nervous right now because only 3 people have gone off our registry. I can have him any day now and we don't have enough clothes for 0-3 months, so I am a little freaked. But I guess we can get all that we need later.

  7.   I am compelled to buy NEW nursery furniture for my first child - give them the best and for the next child to use. What is "okay" to purchase 2nd hand as we are on a very tight budget?

  I haven't gotten anything major, in the furniture department, but I would think that anything wood/metal would be appropriate to purchase second hand, as long as it passes safety regulations. I would want to purchase a new crib mattress, but the crib I wouldn't mind being second hand.

  8.  Whether you are pregnant with #2, have a #2 or more, or just have thoughts...my DH and I have been talking about whether we should register or not for baby #2.  People have been asking me where we are registered and I just tell them we haven't gotten around to it yet, but what are your thoughts?

  N/A...but I think that I would want to register for somethings new.

  9.   We've told a select group of people that we are pregnant, and while everyone is happy, most are still cautious at this point.  When did people start getting really happy for your new addition?

  I told a lot of people as soon as we got a positive BFP. I new it was early, but I was so excited that I couldn't wait to tell those that were most important to me.  I think everyone was really positive because they knew how happy I was. But most were cautious until we had our first u/s @ 10 weeks. After we saw the heartbeat, all concerns stopped.

  10.  Maternity clothes!  Such a pain to find, like and get a good fit.  Any suggestions on the best place?

  I bought almost all of my stuff @ Motherhood. They have a great selection and it isn't too expensive. I find now, though, that nothing fits right. Try to buy stuff that is long enough, because when you are 36 weeks, your belly is out of control. And it is pointless to buy more clothes when you are at the end of the 3rd Tri.

  11.  I'm wondering if people are finding they are not spending as much on stuff for the baby due to the economy and such.  For me I'm finding that I dont really need all the items I felt I had to have. 

  I am feeling the same way. Although now that he is almost here, I am starting to freak out that we don't have all that we need. The funny thing is that all I want are newborn clothes and the Pack n Play. Hopefully I will get them at the next shower.

  hmm, hard one.  I think just everything and you both hearing the same things.  Reading books is fine, but you each may get different things out of what you are reading.  The class ensures you both get the same thing!  Plus, you learn what is normal for both labor and delivery, and what to expect once the baby arrives.  Dh will play such an important role during labor.  He should be reminding you of what you did learn as far as breathing, when you will want to do whatever you can to cope.  Relax your shoulders and neck and don't hold you breath is what DH had to keep reminding me! 

  5.  When will you stop working?  As long as possible.  I'm ok with past my due date too.  I worked until the day after with my 1st.

  6.   Best tips for registering?  Research online and get an idea for what you want 1st.  Then you won't be adding things you don't need when "in the moment"  BUT, luckily, you can go back onine and change things. 

  7.   I am compelled to buy NEW nursery furniture for my first child - give them the best and for the next child to use. What is "okay" to purchase 2nd hand as we are on a very tight budget?  We have bought everything new, but I've seen lots of people buy used cribs, dressers etc.... I would just buy a new mattress if you went the used crib. 

  8.  Whether you are pregnant with #2, have a #2 or more, or just have thoughts...my DH and I have been talking about whether we should register or not for baby #2.  People have been asking me where we are registered and I just tell them we haven't gotten around to it yet, but what are your thoughts?  Yes, we plan to.  Even just for us to have a list going of what we need for ourselves.  (And to get the discount at the end too!)  ALthough, my SILs' have already said they will be hosting a "mist" or a "sprinkle" for me so I'd register to keep things easy for everyone. 

  9.   We've told a select group of people that we are pregnant, and while everyone is happy, most are still cautious at this point.  When did people start getting really happy for your new addition?  It's really is surreal in the beginning.  DH honestly likes it when I have MS, just since the puking reassures him things are going well.  Once you start the 2nd tri, everyone will be more at ease!  Hang in there!

  10.  Maternity clothes!  Such a pain to find, like and get a good fit.  Any suggestions on the best place?  You are changing so quickly and it's so hard to tell when at the beginning of needing them, they seem SO huge, Then later, they will be at their limit!  I remember a pair of GAP pants I had for #1.  I had to wash them after each wearing just to keep them up they were so loose.  At the end, I'd have to wear them for 3 days before they fit well!  lol  BUt at the end, you don't want to go buy more/new.  It's really a catch 22!

  11.  I'm wondering if people are finding they are not spending as much on stuff for the baby due to the economy and such.  For me I'm finding that I dont really need all the items I felt I had to have. 

  SInce this is #2 and they will be 25 month apart we have everything from #1.  (we planned on gender neutral for more than 1 baby with #1)  2 years ago, we went all out, so luckily, this time, we will not need much.  Just furniture for either #1 or #2, depending on the route we go.  (re-use or convert to toddler bed and get new crib etc.. for new baby)

  I'll be 29 weeks tomorrow (Tuesday). I'm noticing a lot more upper abdominal pain and I think it may be from those muscles separating - something I'll ask my doctor about at my appt. this week. And not an ache/pain but I started seeing "rolls" and general movement instead of just kicks and jabs this weekend

  Wednesday morning - I'll go over my ultrasound last week with my OB.
  
  4.   We are doing our child birth classes late....we opted for the all day weekend one, instead of the weeks long classes. What is the most important thing that we should take out of the class? (From a REAL mom perspective, not from an instructor perspective).

  I just got back from the 3rd (out of 5) class and the most helpful thing for me (so far) has been learning and trying out the different labor positions, breathing methods and relaxing techniques - but I'm a first time mom and haven't finished the class yet so that may change, but that has been the best part for both DH and I so far

  Already have, although I do a lot of "work" around the house and am finishing up an online class.

  I looked at other pregnant friends registries as a guideline and got a lot of use and good advice from Baby Bargains. I also looked online before I went to the store to get an idea of what was out there so I wasn't overwhelmed at BRU.
  

  7.   I am compelled to buy NEW nursery furniture for my first child - give them the best and for the next child to use. What is "okay" to purchase 2nd hand as we are on a very tight budget?

  We're still figuring this out ourselves - I really want to buy a crib new, but have been looking at Craigslist for a dresser and glider. If we found a good deal on a newer crib on CL, we'd probably go ahead and get it.

  We told everyone right away and people were happy from the beginning, I didn't really notice anyone being cautious at all - but we also live out of state from most people we know so the interaction was through email and blog, not face to face. 
  

  10.  Maternity clothes!  Such a pain to find, like and get a good fit.  Any suggestions on the best place?

  I've gotten all mine from Old Navy and Target and love both places - cheap, stylish and they fit me very well (although I've heard this isn't the case for everyone) 
  

  11.  I'm wondering if people are finding they are not spending as much on stuff for the baby due to the economy and such.  For me I'm finding that I dont really need all the items I felt I had to have. 

  Ditto, we're just trying to focus on the absolute essentials and not get sucked into buying the "extras" that you won't really need.

Plus it will allow you to build a wish list that won't duplicate what you already have.  If you're not having a shower, then it's completely at your discretion.

  Haven't told the masses yet.  I don't really like announcing anything to the masses so I doubt I ever will formally. In general, people bring their own experiences to what it means to be pregnant. So I suspect those with positive experiences tend to get more excited than those who've seen issues and are more cautious. I wouldn't take it personally if someone wasn't as excited as I want them to be though.  I suspect folks will started to get amped when they see you showing and whatnot.  I think it's hard for some people to actualize that there's really a baby in there until they can see it (so to speak).

  10.  Maternity clothes!  Such a pain to find, like and get a good fit.  Any suggestions on the best place?

  I'm still in the shopping phase since my belly hasn't necessitated maternity clothes quite yet (I'm treading thin ice though...any day now I'll have to change over).  So far I've been loving surfing online at gap.com they have a great maternity section. Also eBay has been my friend for high priced items I don't want to pay full price for like my beloved maternity seven jeans. Yes I am a denim snob, but I live my life in jeans so they must be ones I LIKE!  Also a lot of pea in the pod stuff that is usually way expensive is much cheaper on eBay. I hear Target is good for the Liz Lange line and know many people who shop at Motherhood and Mimi Maternity. That's all I know so far.... I plan on spending my entire summer wearing maxi dresses and sandals.  You can wear a maxi dress during and POST pregnancy so it's a great solution for summer preggos.

  I likely won't buy a thing until we know the sex of the baby and we have a good idea of when we'll have a baby shower. My parents are a little grandchild crazy so before I go on a shopping spree, I'll let them have their way first ;-)

  I am currently unemployed at the moment. I have been interviewing but employers aren't calling me back (I wonder why???). Should I get a job, I will work up until my due date.

  Take a mommy with you!!!!! I went with DH and it was a nightmare. I took my girlfriend that has a 2 year old and is currently pg and I feel SO much better about my registry.

  I think you should register no matter what, even if you decide not to have a shower. I have lots of family members that ask me what I want for our child and I don't want them to get just anything. I direct them right to my registry.

  For me, it's not so much that I am not getting everything I had imagined, I am just taking A LOT of time researching to find the best deal and waiting to use/get coupons. Before the economy got the way it is, I would have just gone the easy route and paid full price.

  Week 30. I am definatly starting to get really uncomfortable! I am having some killer pains at night all around my belly...ugh

  Hopefully getting a chance to relax with my feet up for a day or so, I am pooped!

  I have an appt with my urologist to decide if I need a stent in my kidney tomorrow, and another OB appt on thursday to check blood pressure and go over 24hr urine results

  I learned from my wedding registry to register for anything you even think you might want b/c you will get a coupon to buy anything off of your registry that was not purchased for a discount! And it makes returns a breeze.

  I bought my crib & mattress at a nice 2nd hand store (Other Mothers) and I love it! DH and I made sure to look over it throughly for any loose pieces or saftey concerns and its in great shape! I gave the mattress a good scrubbing (It looked brand new but I just wanted to disinfect) and its good as new! I have also recieved a lot of hand me downs. I figure if I get a new version I can donate the hand me down one or see if the person who gave it to me wants to keep it or pass it on to someone else.

  I have found great jeans at Motherhood (secret fit belly) and undies and tees at Old Navy. Target has nice work attire and long sleeved tees as well.

  Unlike most people, I haven't had much luck at all at Motherhood. Partly I think the styles just don't really fit my lifestyle or personality, also; their pants are short on me. I've actually found most of my maternity clothes at Goodwill and Value Village. Most of them have ended up being Gap or Old Navy. The Long length of jeans from both those places have ended up being a perfect fit for my legs which are too-long-for-Motherhood/JCPenny but too-short-for-fancy jeans.11. I'm wondering if people are finding they are not spending as much on stuff for the baby due to the economy and such.? For me I'm finding that I dont really need all the items I felt I had to have.?
  Like you probably know by now, I'm an avid thrifter and probably would have shopped for the majority of our baby stuff (clothes anyway) second hand regardless of the economy. I really have a hard time paying full price for anything, ever, anyway. I guess the area in which it's affected our baby-shopping the most is that we may have hoped to receive some of the bigger ticket items from my parents, but they have taken more of a hit financally lately than we have so we are not asking for those things now.12. Questions for next week??
  If you could splurge on one thing to prepare either yourself or your house for baby's arrival (i.e. massage, vacation, house cleaner, etc.) what would it be?

If the nurses at the hospital find out it's used they're not supposed to let you use it.

For me it was right away, but people had been asking when we were planning on starting a family for close to a year. My parents were super excited and started announcing it almost immediately even though we were trying to wait a little longer to let extended family know.
  

  10.  Maternity clothes!  Such a pain to find, like and get a good fit.  Any suggestions on the best place? I got mine second hand off Craigslist. My mom also got some for me for Christmas, Kohls has a decent maternity section. I've also found some at Target. I only got one shirt from Motherhood, I love it but I have to budget, especially on things like clothes.

  11.  I'm wondering if people are finding they are not spending as much on stuff for the baby due to the economy and such.  For me I'm finding that I dont really need all the items I felt I had to have. We are super savers by nature, we tend to do a lot of secondhand stuff anyway, we are also growing our own veggies to make our own baby food, and using cloth diapers to help cut expenses. It's not all the economy though, we like to know what is going into our food, pesticides or otherwise and we try to do what is best for nature.

  12.   Questions for next week? Not question so much just a little correction. I'm actually due May 14, when I first posted my Due date was the 13th and I'm sure I probably transposed the numbers. And who knows she still may wait till the 31st but actual DD is May 14.

  We took an expecting multiples class so my perspective may be different, but our favorite take aways were from the guest families that came in. They gave us the story of their pregnancy, birth, and taking the baby home. It was really interesting to hear what their advice was since they had just gone through it all.

  5.  When will you stop working? I?m hoping to work up until the end, but this isn?t as common with twin pregnancies so I?m hoping I can at least work from home at the end. I want to save all my leave time for the babies!

  We bought all new nursery furniture, but shopped sales and deals. We?ve bought almost everything else second hand unless we found a great deal on a new item. I?ve been hitting up moms of multiples sales, the eMOMs classifieds, and even found a garage sale held by a mom of identical twin girls.

  I didn?t even realize it was expected for people to register for #1 until I got pregnant and told people I wasn?t going to register?.almost caused an uproar. J I think its fine and like others said, then you can get the completion coupon.

We only told about 4 people early on and they were all thrilled. We waited until after our NT scan at almost 13w to tell the masses so everyone was beyond excited at that point.

  10.  Maternity clothes!  Such a pain to find, like and get a good fit.  Any suggestions on the best place? I?m pretty tall so all 4 pairs of pants I have are gap. I got three of them off of ebay for a steal. Most of my shirts are my target or old navy. I?ve also had good luck buying flowy non-maternity shirts in big sizes. I?m starting to realize that I?m going to outgrow some of this stuff soon and have started joking with my manager that I hope she doesn?t mind if I wear my husbands clothes to work in April and May. I really don?t want to buy more stuff.

Another big motivator is that we are staying in our townhome instead of selling and moving to a bigger house due to the economy, which means we need to wait to buy things so we have the space!

  1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?  Six weeks, 3 days...I tend to fall asleep at 9:30 these nights, and the sample of prenatals that I'm trying have made me a little on the constipated side

  3.  I have my pre-TTC appt. next week, any specific questions I should ask?  When I asked my regular Doc specific TTC questions (she is an Internal Med Doc) she told me that I would need to ask a specialist.  But the best advise is to make sure your PAP is normal and recent, all your immunizations are up to date, get a flu shot NOW, start eating right (or better) and exercise more.

  3.  I have my pre-TTC appt. next week, any specific questions I should ask?

  I recently went to appt and just asked about fertility options.  They suggested blood test, semen analysis, and HSG--but this was after TTC for over 6 months and our age.  And she wants us to use OPK for 3 months.  My husband has been helping me buy the digital OPK on Ebay.  

   

  4.  Questions for next week?

  BFP on 07/18/08. Miscarriage 07/30/08. BFP 3/25/09. Confirmed second miscarriage, no heartbeat, no growth beyond 7 weeks, 5/19/09. TTC again, on baby aspirin, due to value of 23 on Anticardiolipin Antibodies. BFP 11/15/09. Brown spotting, Beta 3735 11/25/09, Beta 5602 11/28/09. Anticardiolipin Antibodies now negative, still on baby asprin. On 100 mg of Prometrium (progesterone) until 10 weeks. Good heartbeat at 1st appt. 12/16/09. Started taking fish oil. Perigestational hemorrhage and red bleeding 12/17/09. 2nd Ultrasound-8 weeks, still a heartbeat 12/17/09. Baby measured 9 weeks, still a heartbeat 12/23/09. Good NT Scan on 1/8/10, heartbeat 164.   to be honest, im not up on the ttc lingo, and i dont know much about how it all works.  we do have a son already, and that was pure luck i think. i just took the days the chart said i might ovulate and extended them three days each direction. we got pregnant on the very first day we tried. so for this one, im giving it a couple months before getting all serious with charting, etc.lol

I found a bunch of stuff at Old Navy that I just bought one or two sizes bigger and they worked. Ross has great maternity stuff and so does the motherhood store. But really I look at it this way, I won't be pregnant forever, so the more stuff I can by that doesn't look maternity and that I can still wear after, the better.

  2. What are you looking forward to this next week? I am doing the Mercer Island Colon Cancer run in honor of my dad who is currently battling colon cancer.  I will be walking the 5k, but we have about 50 people signed up as a part of Team G-Unit (my dad's nickname) so it should be fun!

  4.   We are doing our child birth classes late....we opted for the all day weekend one, instead of the weeks long classes. What is the most important thing that we should take out of the class? (From a REAL mom perspective, not from an instructor perspective). We did ours late too and we did the weekend one because of scheduling.  I actually thought it was helpful just to know the expectations and to really assess when it was time to go to the hospital.

  5.  When will you stop working?

  I worked until the day I went into labor with Caden and I will try to do the same with this one.

   

  6.   Best tips for registering? I too looked at the Baby Bargains book because the first time I went in to a BRU I turned around and walked out...so overwhelming.  The book and tips from family really helped me figure out what I needed.

  7.   I am compelled to buy NEW nursery furniture for my first child - give them the best and for the next child to use. What is "okay" to purchase 2nd hand as we are on a very tight budget? We bought all new furniture, but we did it on a budget.  We didn't buy the best of everything, but it has all lasted and we are using it for #2.

  8.  Whether you are pregnant with #2, have a #2 or more, or just have thoughts...my DH and I have been talking about whether we should register or not for baby #2.  People have been asking me where we are registered and I just tell them we haven't gotten around to it yet, but what are your thoughts? This was my question...and I registered over the weekend with one of my girlfriends.  I figured why not and I do want the coupons

  9.   We've told a select group of people that we are pregnant, and while everyone is happy, most are still cautious at this point.  When did people start getting really happy for your new addition? In the second trimester.

  10.  Maternity clothes!  Such a pain to find, like and get a good fit.  Any suggestions on the best place? I struggle with this too because I HATE spending money on maternity clothes and I find that all of the pants are too short.

  11.  I'm wondering if people are finding they are not spending as much on stuff for the baby due to the economy and such.  For me I'm finding that I dont really need all the items I felt I had to have.  I was this way with #1 when the economy wasn't this bad   My husband is such a frugal person so I find that he has instilled in my the need to question every purchase "Do I really need this?"

  I'm contemplating a trip to New Jersey to visit DH.  He is there for job training right now and is very homesick.

  If I had a chance to do it all over again, I would have asked to have my hormone levels checked via blood work.  A lot of people jump right into TTC without knowing if they have underlying problems.  It's a simple test that can shed some light on if you are good to go or will need help TTC.

   

  Ask your doctor if they have any prenatal vitamin samples.  When I began my journey, my doctor gave me a bunch of different kinds to try.  I found that my body tolerated some of them better than others, and it's nice to know what works best for you.  It's good to start taking the vitamins before you become pregnant.

  It's been forever since i've been on but...i'm glad to say i'm back in action and want to join back into the fun!

  1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? I'm 22w3d exactly. I have a lot of RLP but mostly in the am right after I've gotten out of bed. Other then that, things are great. We had our 'big' ultrosound and though we are still Team Green, it was amazing to see our little peanut! Everything is moving along GREAT! Peanut is very healthy.
  
  2. What are you looking forward to this next week? moving!!! We bought our first house over the last few months and are moving this sat. I cant wait!
  
  3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Next apt is April 10 @ 24w5d. Nothing out of the ordinary but i do LOVE hearing the heatbeat everytime.
  

  5.  When will you stop working? I'm thinking i'd like to go to 4days/9hr a day come June but we'll see. Otherwise, I plan to work until Peanut comes or until I'm told otherwise.

   

  8.  Whether you are pregnant with #2, have a #2 or more, or just have thoughts...my DH and I have been talking about whether we should register or not for baby #2.  People have been asking me where we are registered and I just tell them we haven't gotten around to it yet, but what are your thoughts? I think it'd be ok to registar for a few things and if people ask, then they obviously want to give and dont think it's out of the ordinary to buy for your second, so i say go for it.

  9.   We've told a select group of people that we are pregnant, and while everyone is happy, most are still cautious at this point.  When did people start getting really happy for your new addition? right away. We told our families at 5w and everyone was thrilled from the beginning. I've noticed the family i'm closest to (like my aunt and SIL) are MOST excited now, since i've started showing.

  10.  Maternity clothes!  Such a pain to find, like and get a good fit.  Any suggestions on the best place? I've found GAP to be the best so far. I have a few things from Motherhood and because i'm very busty, only fit well into their cotton T's. But Gap seems to fit all over and well. my only comment on their pants: if you wear heals to work and are 5'6" or more, order them online in Long and they'll be just long enough for heals. The regulars werent long enough.

  Going to Boise for the NCAA tournament!  I'm so excited.  I love college basketball but have never been to a tournament game.  We are going to see DH's team.  My team hasn't been good since 1996.  Plus I get to see my favorite Aunt who lives in Boise.

  I asked about over the counter drugs and foods to avoid.  Any general advice she could give.  My doctor gave me the documents they give someone when they are pregnant so I could start avoiding certain things.  She also told me levels of vitamins I should be getting so I could look at pre-natals and make sure they had enough of what I needed.

We inherited a lot of stuff from a relative, which was a huge moneysaver. Could you get things like a high chair, swing, etc secondhand?

I'd do it so you can get the completion coupon. I wouldn't expect people to do a shower or as many gifts for a second baby, but I think it's nice to have a registry to direct them to if they ask. My friend's sister registered just for the coupon and then her friends ended up giving her a surprise shower for #2 so it was really nice that she had registered and got what she wanted.

I think everyone was very excited from the get-go, though we only told immediate family before about 10-12 weeks.

Money is definitely on my mind due to maternity leave and then returning part time. I am trying to be conscious of what I really NEED to buy, but still letting myself enjoy the process of preparing for baby. It's a hard balance sometimes.

  I suppose it's time to add me to the TTC list again.

   

  1. What cycle are you on?

  # 2 I suppose.  We tried in November, then I decided I wanted to wait until spring.  Well, it's spring. 

  Waiting to O or 2WW?  Now it's the 2WW.
  
  2. What are you looking forward to this next week?

  The John Gottman lecture.  I'm hoping it will give DH and me some tools to communicate better and for me to be more content.
  
  3.  I have my pre-TTC appt. next week, any specific questions I should ask?

  I'd just give a good full history.  Average length of cycle, average length of period, any issues with cysts or endometriosis, etc, average number of days til O.  It'll clue the dr in pretty quickly if some of that isn't "normal".  I'd also ask for a Rx for prenatal vitamins - I think they're cheaper via a copay than the $20/month OTC.

  If this is your second kid, how much time did you/do you want between kids?  Why?
  

   

  After three years TTC, four IUI's plus 2 cancelled, MFI (morph, motility, count), maternal age (40 as of 5/12) & former endo, we're moving to IVF spring 2012 (good/avg AMH and FSH). We did beat the odds once, however. DD born after 2 years TTC with clomid and no monitoring at my age 35. Doctors are SHOCKED we were able to conceive. Here's hoping for another miracle.

  29 weeks.  I just started feeling this "odd" feeling like the baby rolls and then stops half way and my stomach feels tight.  Just hit me last night that maybe its actually braxton hicks

  hehe this is my question.  Like I mentioned before I'm getting a lot of hand me downs so thats helping with the urge to buy everything.  But I'm still going back and forth on the dresser & hutch combo that  matches the crib my parents bought.  I have a coupon and can save 10% opening a credit account...but its still a lot of money.
