She didn't really specify why, I just asked her if she did and she said she did and forgot to mention it at our last appt. Just that she liked him getting the vitamin A & D that he needed that I can't give him. I was going through a whole litany of questions I had so I didn't ask about them further. She said it's not a must, obviously b/c we both forgot to mention them last time, but just that she likes them.
I've read conflicting arguments, but I figured it can't hurt him, so I'm trying to find the one she wants him to have.
Tri contains A, D and C Vitamins, Poly contains those as well as B vit.?
The twins had to start taking Poly-Vi-Sol with Iron around their 9 month appt because their finger pricks showed anemia. Certainly can't hurt to add some to one bottle a day (its some foul smelling-tasting stuff!). ?

Thanks! I guess I could have googled and probably found it, but it's a busy day around here!
As a side note, there are MUCH better vitamin options out there. Whole Foods, Central Market, some HEB's, and People's Pharmacy all carry several food-based options. Overall they're better for you than something cooked up in a lab, plus they don't taste like crap.
FWIW, we've used both Poly and Tri, and I can tell you that Poly smells, and I imagine tastes NASTY - nastier than Tri. DS makes a face whenever we give him Poly, and it can make his whole room smell, especially if a little bit gets spilled. Oh, and it stains too.
We were advised by our pedi to give him a vitamin D supplement, since he's ebf'd, and bf'd babies can have a lack of Vit D. Lack of Vit. D can lead to Rickets (poor bone growth/formation). Poly and Tri Vi Sol have other vitamins too, but have enough Vit. D to fulfill the deficiency. Our pedi has actually treated an ebf child who developed Rickets, so he is a big proponent of Vit. D supplementation, but I know a lot of pedi's don't think it's necessary. Regular, controlled exposure to sunlight can also fulfill the deficiency, as sunlight causes the body to produce its own Vit. D.
Daniel's pediatrician recommended poly-vi-sol for him as well, and he wouldn't have anything to do with it. ?We learned that our pharmacy will flavor it (they have lots of flavors; we chose cherry), and while it still wasn't initially his favorite thing, it went a long way toward making it palatable for him. ?Now he asks for his dropper of vitamins every morning!?
