Is it bad to wear jeans at job interview?

I have interview tomorrow and my jeans are my "dressy" pants that fit compared to my sweat pants....

It's for a 1 day/week job at a casual home office.

Is it bad if I wear jeans a dressy top and heals?

Even when I applied at a horse farm where I would be mucking stalls and grooming horses I wore slacks...

I would have to say yes, wearing jeans, no matter what you dress them up with is inappropriate for any interview... sorry... just my opinion.

I wouldn't. It's kinda looked down upon at my work and we have casual dress code. The rule of thumb is always dress nicer than you'll have to when you actually work there.

If it was at a Hollister store in the mall, then I totally would, but not for anything other than that.

I think in this climate, you really do want to put your best foot forward.

Maybe grab a clearance rack pair of black slacks or a pencil skirt.

While you could probably explain that you are out of pants because of being pregnant, my fear would be that you would come off as using your pregnancy as an excuse for not being professional.?

Personally, I'd say just to get a cheap pair of slacks or khakis at the very least.

Always better to be overdressed and leave a good impression than to be underdressed and risk leaving a bad impression.

I've always been told dress a step better than the job everyday would require. Unless you can show up in p.j. on a regular basis, I would go out and find a cheap skirt or dress pants, Goodwill is always a good option if you don't want to spend much.

I'd say no if you really want the job. I have interviewed many people and would probably not hire someone who did not dress as if they wanted the job!

I would rather feel over dressed and not feel sloppy or like I'm using pregnancy as an excuse to be dressed like that. I'll run out to Old Navy tonight. Thanks!

Generally, yes. (It does sound like you've already made up you're mind, though.) If you really want the job it's usually a good idea to err on the side of caution and dress up. It shows you want the job. You never know who's going to be sitting across the table and if they're at all old school, they will equate business attire at an interview with being serious and committed to getting the job. It doesn't matter that it's only 1 day per week or a casual work place, the interview is a different setting and you're trying to make a great impression. Just my 2 cents.

I've worn jeans to interviews but that's because I'm a quant in finance and I'd rather people look at my brain than what I'm wearing. Every time I have, I've gotten the job. Then again, I'm not wearing a dressy top or heels. I'm wearing a North Face jackets and New Balance tennis shoes.

It seems like people in general have more to prove with their look so I'd say dress-up if that's your goal. Not making judgments, just giving an honest assessment.
