Success after IF

IVF ladies with MFI issues

we are doing IVF in May (yeah!) and pretty much only have MFI issues, low morph and low motility- so we will be doing ICSI. My question is will ICSI fix our problem? I always thought yes, until I read a post about a girl who's DH had morph issues and sperm was not able to divide the egg. Then I started freaking out! but Im thinking that didnt sound like a morph issues, so talk me off the ledge ladies!

Thanks!

Re: IVF ladies with MFI issues

  • DH has low morph (1%-4%), and we never had a BFP.  But, IVF w/ ICSI was successful for us.  Good luck!!
After 2 years and 6 IUIs, we did it with IVF w/ ICSI!
    BFP with no treatment!

  • IVF w/ ICSI worked on the first try for us, with 1% morphology, when IUIs had failed. They will pick the best sperm for the job, so try not to worry!

I don't know anything about the problem you mention, but I imagine it would be rare.

    Good luck!!

After 7 failed IUIs, IVF w/ ICSI worked!!

I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.

And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!

  • We did IVF with ICSI because my DH scored poorly on the SPA (sperm penetration assay).  Also known as the hamster test.  He scored 47%, and they are looking for 50% as normal.  He had 7 of 15 fertilize.  Because he had poor results, we knew we needed ICSI to get the sperm into the egg.

I'm not sure if this is the same as dividing the egg, but ours is one of the problems I have seen mentioned several times.

We had gotten pregnant with Clomid and TI and Injectables and IUI in the past, but neither of those pregnancies stuck.  Sorry, I can't find his SA results to give you his other stats.

  • Don't worry -- we have severe MFI issues (count, morph, motility -- everything).  We did ICSI and got pg on our first try with all embies sticking. None made it to freeze but the ones they put back worked!

  • We have pretty severe MFI including 0% morph.  We had excellent fert rates and had 6 blasts after IVF with ICSI

  • I agree with the rest of ladies-  we have 0% morph and low everything else and IVF w/ICSI worked for us! Good luck!
  • We have pretty severe MFI, also: count is less than 100K with 4% motility and poor morph. We didn't have a great fert rate -- only 3 of 13 fert w/ ICSI (but keep in mind, we had MAJOR count issues), but of those three, we had two quality embies to put back and I'm 24 weeks tomorrow with a singleton. That's success to me! :)
  • From waht my RE says, ICSI is the 'fix' for MFI. Severe MFI is our only problem. The first IVF w/ ICSI took.

Our stats were: 4 mature eggs retrieved, all 4 fertalized. Two transfered, both stuck (twins!), and the other 2 made it to freeze!

  • We have terrible SA numbers and had no problem, 11 of the 15 fertilized "normally" (not sure what was with the other 4 I always assumes egg quality but maybe not) My RE assured us that there would be no trouble fertilizing, that morph and motility was simply just making it hard for the sperm to get to and then in the egg. GL!
  • we have severe MFI (low count, 1-2%morph, low mot). had 20ferts with ICSI. My OB and RE both advised to go straight to ICSI, and not to bother trying anything else.
  • After 7 failed IUI's we did IVF with ICSI----It worked...I am pregnant with a singleton. I only produced 3 eggs and all 3 fertilized. We put all three back and today I find out what sex the baby is. Yippie!
