we are doing IVF in May (yeah!) and pretty much only have MFI issues, low morph and low motility- so we will be doing ICSI. My question is will ICSI fix our problem? I always thought yes, until I read a post about a girl who's DH had morph issues and sperm was not able to divide the egg. Then I started freaking out! but Im thinking that didnt sound like a morph issues, so talk me off the ledge ladies!
Thanks!
Re: IVF ladies with MFI issues
BFP with no treatment!
IVF w/ ICSI worked on the first try for us, with 1% morphology, when IUIs had failed. They will pick the best sperm for the job, so try not to worry!
I don't know anything about the problem you mention, but I imagine it would be rare.
Good luck!!
I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.
And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!
We did IVF with ICSI because my DH scored poorly on the SPA (sperm penetration assay). Also known as the hamster test. He scored 47%, and they are looking for 50% as normal. He had 7 of 15 fertilize. Because he had poor results, we knew we needed ICSI to get the sperm into the egg.
I'm not sure if this is the same as dividing the egg, but ours is one of the problems I have seen mentioned several times.
We had gotten pregnant with Clomid and TI and Injectables and IUI in the past, but neither of those pregnancies stuck. Sorry, I can't find his SA results to give you his other stats.

LO #1 - Took 2 years and 2 IVFs ~ DX - severe MFI mild PCOS homozygous MTHFR (a1298c)
LO #2 - TTC 7 months, surprise spontaneous BFP!
From waht my RE says, ICSI is the 'fix' for MFI. Severe MFI is our only problem. The first IVF w/ ICSI took.
Our stats were: 4 mature eggs retrieved, all 4 fertalized. Two transfered, both stuck (twins!), and the other 2 made it to freeze!
