Anyone do ER but not ET?

I went to my RE today for what I thought was my final follie check... turns out I have to go back tomorrow for one more and then have my ER on Thursday.

My RE said he was 'concerned' with my lining -- it's barely 8 mm but there is some fluid in there.  He says if it doesn't get better by Thursday then he will freeze the embryos and do a FET.

Has anyone done this before?  What is the procedure for doing an FET?

Thanks ladies!

  • Yes I had to hold off on the transfer due to OHSS.  THe FET protocol is not bad at all...  If you do a natural cycle, once you start AH, you start your estrogen patches, on day 13 you go in for lining check, if everything looks good, you start the progesterone shots.  On day 19 if you have a day 5 they transfer them in.  I know if sucks to not have the transfer, but many people have very successful FET's.

  • All I know is that the lining has to be at least 8mm for a successful transfer. I went on Saturday and mine was 10.5 and they were happy. My RE had check for fluid in a "moc. embryo trans" before my cycle even began and ensured the area was clear from fluid. Did you have one of those?

I think that we are going to freeze our embryos that we are not using for this IVF cycle and do an FET when we decide to have another child in the future, Basically, I think that they are freezing yours now and waiting for you to have a thicker lining--you definetly want to have a more successful trans. so you get prego. I think FET involves thethawing out of frozen embryos before they trans. them.

Good luck to you..I know it will all work out in time! Keep us all posted.
