Babies: 9 - 12 Months

My aunt is having a mastectomy tomorrow

I mentioned around Christmas time that she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Well, her doctors decided chemo, mastectomy and then radiation.

She has been doing okay & seems to be in good spirits.  I'm going to try to get to the hospital in time to see her before the surger but I'm not sure if I'll make it.  DH is working 'til 6am.

I found it strange that she's only being kept overnight.  Guess that's insurance for ya.

Re: My aunt is having a mastectomy tomorrow

  • my favorite auntie survived stage 4 breast cancer a couple years ago-- double mastectomy, in her lungs and liver and 17 lymph nodes-- she was 69 at the time.  Months of chemo and radiation and she's here to tell the story.  She looks beautiful and feels great!  Good luck.

Wow, that's awesome.  Thanks for sharing.

  • That's so sad.  :(  Are they hopeful that removal of her breast and the radiation will kill the cancer completely?

It's great that she's in good spirits.  I believe that will help her on her road to recovery for sure.

Yes, the doctors seem pretty hopeful.  I think it was caught at a good time.
