nbr: credit card dispute ???

I had purchased something online over xmas and the gift i had gotten was a hoax.   they were dvd's that were copied off of a t.v.  There return policy is only 30 days and they were making me return it back to china.  i called my cc company and disputed the charges.  now after all these months are telling me that i have to return it back to china in order for them to do a dispute.  the problem is i am way over 30 days now!  if i were to just cancel my credit card would that work?  i just don't know what to do and was wondering if anyone else was in a situation like me?  any advice would so be helpful!!  thanks!!  oh and please don't buy anything on dvdstore.net they are ripoffs!!!  i am learning from my mistakes and hate to see anyone of you's get scammed!

  • Call the cc company and talk to them. Let them know it's over the 30 days. They probably won't care. It seems intuitive that you have to return the merchandise (however shoddy) to be able to not pay for it. I mean - if you keep the stuff and don't pay for it, isn't that stealing?

    I don't understand the logic of cancelling your credit card rather than just sending the junk back even though it's been over 30 days.

  • I would ask the cc company for written documentation indicating that upon proof that the item is received by the company you will receive a credit for the charge.  Then I would send the stuff back, via registered shipment and as soon as it's signed for fax over the info to your cc. company.  I would also ask for a US address if possible.  Some companies will offer this.
