I had continued for two reasons. The first was I was bfing and the second was I knew I would be having a second child sometime down the road so it doesn't hurt to take them and get the extra folic acid now.
I've been taking PNV for four straight years now (just before I got PG with DD1). I asked my primary doc if it was okay for me to just go ahead and take them as a multi vitamin and she said that was perfectly fine.
I'm still BFing so obviously I'm still taking it...but I'll probably continue after I wean, too.
Re: Anyone still take prenatal vitamins?
I still take them...but I also breastfeed, and they say on the bottle to take for breastfeeding as well.
I've heard before that many women take PNVs whether they "need" them or not...can't think it would hurt, right?
My OB told me it was ok to switch to a multi when I was still BF'ing.
