Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Traveling with a one year old is exhausting!

We went away for the weekend with Madeleine.  I'm totally wiped out.  I'm sure it didn't help that it rained the entire time and we were stuck inside, but, wow, was that a lot of work.  We traveled cross country with her when she was five months old and that was a breeze as compared to this weekend.

She freaked out when we put her to bed in the pnp, she screamed bloody murder in restaurants, she crawled all over the place and got into everything, and she cried when new people looked at her.  I am so glad to be home.

I don't think I'm ever leaving again.

  • Lol, it really is exhausting, isn't it!  I was just telling DH about how hard it is for me to go anywhere during the day with a busy toddler.  Now that you're home I hope you get to put your feet up and relax for the evening!

My husband is already asleep and I'm heading there myself.  I think tomorrow will be a stay-in-the-house day.
  • LOL!  We thought the same thing.

  • Uh-oh, this makes me even more nervous! I leave on Friday to visit my parents in FL with DD ... alone. DH is staying home to work and take care of our dogs.?

This is the first time I've traveled alone with her, and I'm worried that it's going to be absolutely a mess!?

Good luck with that!  You'll figure out a way to make it work, I'm sure.  Just get your parents to help as much as you can.  You're going to need your sleep.
  • Thanks! I haven't traveled by plane with her since she was about six months old, so yeah, I'm anticipating that this time will be pretty different.?

Luckily, my parents only get to see her every few months and will have no reservations about letting me sleep so they can get some baby-time. Assuming that DD doesn't get overwhelmed by stranger anxiety and insist on clinging to me ... we'll see!

  • I'd drive cross-country before booking a flight anytime soon. An hour flight either way did me in a few weeks ago. So not fun.

  • Oh jeez, we are going to Chicago in July and I am so worried about how DS will be. I am most concerned about how he will react to the plane, I dread that he may cry the whole time. I also worry about all of his stuff that we have to pack and going through security. My parents will be with us so I know they will help out but it's still alot when traveling with a toddler.
  • no kidding! i took one of the boys to california last week on the plane and it wiped me out. i'd taken another one to virginia on a plane when they were 7 months old and it was a gajillion times easier. never again! heh.

  • Note to self:  No trips with Ben for the next 10 years.   ;)

Sorry your weekend away wasn't more fun for you.

I'm still in my PJs and I'm watching tv while M plays.  I am totally wiped out.
