Special Needs

I hope it's ok to share some good and encouraging news..

I know there has been loss and some setbacks lately, and I am so sorry to all those suffering. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I just wanted to share some happy news regarding my DD. At 2 yrs old, she was severly language delayed, and had behavioral problems due to her inability to communicate. After receiving services first through EI and then through CPSE, she is now 4 and completely age appropriate. Her most recent evals put her in the average to high average range for both receptive and expressive language. Her Psych eval was completely normal--average. We had her transition meeting yesterday(she will be attending a regular ed kindergarten in the fall) and she was "de-classified". She is no longer a pre-schooler with a disability. The CPSE chairperson actually called her a "Poster Child for Early Intervention". To all those struggling, please know that everything you are doing IS helping. Sometimes you don't see it, but it is. Keep fighting for your child and for the services they need. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck to all!
