Update to my pump troubles: Pump died =(

I think it's for real this time. It was working then it made two cycles without sucking then stopped. Turned it off then on numerous times and same thing happened every time. I think it's gone. And, I'm stuck at work and can't just leave anytime because I'm a teacher and have kids all day long. Looks like I will be hand pumping today which sucks because I haven't been pumping as much the last two weeks anyway. Oh and anywhere that sells decent pumps (i.e. NOT walmart) is at least an hour away which is impossible on a weeknight. I'm pretty sure my health department sells pumps, so I'll have to call and see what they have in stock.

Woe is me....

  • Not sure of your back story, or what kind of pump you have.  I have a medela and it did the same thing to me but only if I used the battery pack.  Even when I put in fresh new batteries.  The wall a/c adapter still works great though.  Maybe that's your problem.  That sucks about your pump though.  GL on figuring things out, and don't stress that will just makes things worse!

  • Can you rent a pump until the weekend?  Ugh- hand pumping stinks... Good luck!!

  • I use the wall adapter. That was the problem before. The wall adapter bit the dust. Now I think it's the whole pump. We'll see. I'll try it again later.

  • If you are anywhere near a Target, they sell the Lansinoh double electric for $150, which is the same exact pump as the Ameda Purely Yours. It's a closed system and is a great pump-- I used this for 9 months EPing.
  • Like the PP said can you rent for the next couple days?  A friend of mine just mentioned that she's going to sell her Medela Pump in Style.  I don't know how much, but I can ask her if you're interested.  Sorry this happened to you!
  • Hospitals usually sell pumps too.  Target is your best bet though for the Lansinoh pump.  I think I remember from your last post that you have an Ameda, so that would be the exact same thing.  I've heard good things about the Avent handpump if you are looking to save money.  Sorry your pump died :(
  • Something snapped inside my Ameda pump one day and it just stopped working.  I had been using it 5X+ a day for over 9 months so it was not new. I called the place I bought it and they said to call Ameda.  I called Ameda, they were super nice (she listened to my pump over the phone...it pumps twice and then shuts off...) and they had one in the mail and in my hands in 48hrs free of charge.
