Nurse DC while they are swaddled?

Does anyone nurse DC while they are swaddled? It seems like it would be a lot easier to hold DD that way but it seems so odd to me.  Plus, it would be easier to burp her and put her down for a nap without waking her up when she falls aslee at the breast.

  • I tried it but that would just get her even more upset though. but we had a lot of issues.

  • I do this on occasion.  At first he fought it but he fought being swaddled almost any time but now it works out.

  • I would have problems keeping dd awake to finish eating when she was swaddled, so then she would be waking up within 20 minutes because she wasn't full when she feel asleep.

I will swaddle her to nurse her if she is having a hard time falling asleep for a nap and I want her to just take a few sucks and fall asleep.  That way she stays asleep when I move her to her crib.

  • I do at night. She's very focused on eating, but she is very difficult to burp when she generally burps easily and we've had a couple of spit up incidents because of it.
  • I used to have to nurse DS swaddled when he was at his most colicky.  It helped him calm down and focus on eating.

  • I did last night, but it only works if she's sleepy and calm to begin with. Otherwise I am dealing with a little fidgety Houdini.

  • I used to nurse DS swaddled when he was a newborn, because his hands would always jump up to his mouth and it was easier to get him to latch when swaddled.

For as long as he slept swaddled at nighttime, that's how we would do our bedtime feeding.  So as soon as he was finished eating I would just put him in the crib.

  • I do at night..Sometimes it seems easier to hold her, but sometimes it also seems like her body is in the way of her head reaching the breast then too..
