If they have had wheat, they can have whole wheat

Right?  I heard whole wheat is better for constipation.

  • yes, whole wheat should be fine.  when things are labeled "wheat" bread it is really just white bread colored brown.  Whole wheat bread is much higher in fiber and should help with constipation.

  • Yes.  I am sure your DD has already had whole wheat as it's in almost everything now that has wheat.
  • Yes. Whole wheat tends to have more fiber. If it's a regular issue, I'd suggest possibly adding a daily probiotic - it really seems to help with regularity for ds.

If it's a one-off kind of situation then you might be better served feeding pears or prunes.

  • No it is a regular issue.  We keep it "under control" with prunes and pears and such.  It was just suggested to switch from regular bread to whole wheat to keep it from happening.  I think she is ok for a day and then wham it happens again.
