She will NOT drink milk....ideas?

DD will nto drink milk, at all. I have tried all different kinds of sippys, i have warmed it up, served it ice cold, put it in her bottle, mixed it with foluma and in desperation even put in a little bit of chocolate, nothing. SHe will take one sip and spit it out. This has been going on for a month now. She still takes 3 bottles a day, any tips?

  • My friend has had the same problem, and after trying everything from choc milk to soy milk she has found that her daughter will actually drink Pediasure!  Her pedi said that it was a great alternative since she won't drink milk!!!!!  GL

  • we are having the same problem and we have also tried pediasure and she still won't drink it. . we are going to stop for a couple of weeks and then retry again . .?
  • Try mixing a bit of yogurt with it ... even a little pureed fresh fruit too, like a smoothie.  That's how we got DD started with milk and now she drinks it fine plain!

  • we have the same problem and we've tried everything you have.  Right now we are trying whole milk mixed with liquid yogurt.  So far it's not working, but I'm hoping it might change.  I have vanilla soy milk and choc milk in the fridge too.  sometimes ds will take choc milk if I offer it to him in a regular cup and let him drink it that way.  It's messy and time consuming since I have to hold it for him, but sometimes it works.

Ditto EVERY.SINGLE.THING.  No advice, interested to hear what others say, but you are not alone!

  • my pedi recommended watering down the milk. she said that whole milk is a lot thicker then bm and so i added water for a week and it go better, still not 100%, but he at least drinks some now.
  • You can also try strawberry syrup...some kids like that better than chocolate.  My DD has to drink soy and initially hated it.  What we've been doing is mixing formula and the milk together in her bottles.  Started with less than one ounce of soy and now we're up to about 5 ounces soy to 2-3 ounces of formula.  Once she starts taking all soy, then we'll try transitioning to sippys.

  • A new sippy cup (we use a boon sippy for milk) and a tiny drop of strawberry Quik works for us. Good Luck!
  • I have no clue as to if this would be okay but what about a drop of vanilla extract in the milk?  I would think that maybe this could give a bit of a sweet taste without the sugars added to it!  Just guessing and throwing it out there!  Off to research vanilla extract and babies...
  • we're dealing w/ the same thing right now.

Forgot all about vanilla extract.  My mom used to put it in my milk when I was a toddler because it was the only way I would drink it.  When I was a little older, she added ice and sugar, shook it up and called it a "poor man's milkshake".  So I'm sure vanilla is fine, but then again lots of things that were fine in the 70s are a no-no now.

  • Does she drink water or juice? If yes, and she`s getting enough fluids don`t worry too much. Just feed her more yogurt and cheeses.
  • Went through similar issues. ?It was actually the take and toss sippy cup that she finally took to and it was at daycare (where they can get a lot of things past her that we can't at home).
