I apologize if this sounds really stupid, but I will be starting our first IVF cycle next month and I have a question about the meds.
Does your RE give you a list of what they "think" you'll need for the entire cycle and then let you get the meds from wherever you choose (with prescription)? The reason I ask is because I have seen a few suggestions for "shopping around" (Target vs. Walgreens or ivfmeds.com) and I wonder how long we have from the time we get the list from our RE to the time we need to get them ordered so they arrive in time for the cycle. Or does each RE do it differently? I have all these questions to ask on CD1, but I was just wondering if anyone could share their experience or help guide me. We are completely OOP, so we are trying to find ways to save as much as we can. Also, I have seen recommendations for ivfmeds.com, are there any others you would recommend? TIA
Re: Question about IVF meds
My first RE would give me perscriptions and send me out to get the meds.
The RE I went to after that ordered the meds for me and had them shipped to the house, and gave me a time schedule as to what date I start what and when (and discussed details with me in person at one of my appointments before starting the meds).
Mine told me what I needed, then I called around to get prices. I typically order all injection meds from IVPCare. Alot of the pills (antibiotics, pre-natal, Medrol, etc) I got from a local grocery store pharmacy. Then, I told the nurse where to call in what med.
most mail-order pharmacies will overnight meds to you - at least freedom pharmacy does. so if you know a couple of days before you need them you should be good to go.
g/l with this cycle!
My RE office ordered all of the meds from MetroDrugs and they were overnighted. We could have chosen another pharmacy but their prices were good, so we just went with them.
